Nails: Shellac, Gel, Acryllic... Help!

@@MrsCtoB Bubble bath is the color I have on right now - I love it!

So when you say extension, is that basically like an acrylic tip? (Sorry I'm so clueless). I think I'm going to do exactly what you did, gel with extensions on the nails that need it.

Loveee Bubble Bath!

Yes, basically. When you get a full set, either acrylic or gel, those tips that they glue on is what I am referencing to. Then instead of being topped with the acrylic, I had the UV Gel. I really liked them! They were durable enough to have done a few days in advance but still looked natural.

I have the same questions with nails.  I know my wedding is a while away, but I've been thinking about the small details lately and this was one of them.  Since I am on vacation I do want to do the things that I love.  I love the pool and the beach and doing lots of activities.  A regular manicure will usually last a day or two.

I was thinking of doing either shellac, gel, or Jamberries.  I've had shellac before and it ruins your nails, but it does last a while and doesn't chip.  Also, I don't know if this happens to anyone else, but my shellac nails usually look dirty after about a week.  I shower and wash my hands often, but it just looks dirty.  I like gel nails, but I'm worried that they might break and I'll have no way to fix them.  My friend is a Jamberry consultant and I do really love the product it does last a long time if you apply it right.  I was thinking of taking some jamberry wraps with me and just apply it the night before my wedding so my nails will look good.  I'm not sure what I want to do yet.

@@diadiamond If you get your shellac done right and even more importantly, have it taken off correctly, it's awesome for your nails. I haven't been without it on my nails for probably two years and it makes them really strong and tough. A lot of people's problem is that they peel it off, and then it takes off the top few layers of your nail and really jacks them up (my mom always does this, it drives me NUTS), so it's important to soak them off with acetone (I always just have the salon remove it for me cause it is kind of a pain). I wouldn't rule it out, but maybe just go to a different salon than last time you had it done.

Shelac is good for everyday, but if you're going to the beach, from my personal experience, Gel is better. It stays longer. Shelac can chip off, which happened to me on one of our vacations.

Since my nails don't really grow much i get a bit of a tip too. If your technician is good, the tip shouldn't be too thick, ask to make it thinner.
