Wedding Gift For Groom Ideas! Share Your Ideas

Recommended Posts

Sean and I decided that we were not going to do gifts, but I really want to get him something small anyway. I have been writing in a day planner since Nov 20 of last year. Every day I write one thing that happened/he did/said that makes me remember why I love him. I called it 365 Reasons Why I Do. I plan on giving that to him on our wedding day, but I have also been toying with the idea of having a belt buckle made. He collects them and wears they every day. Now here is where I start to doubt my idea. Sean's father passed almost 13 years ago, and I know that it really upsets him that his dad wont be at our wedding. I am wondering if on the belt buckle I should put the word Greaser on it (thats what they called his dad)?  Is that weird? Part of me wonders if he would want a belt buckle with his dads name on it??

@@veryvalentine I think the watch is a great idea - especially if he loves watches! Very classy gift!  :) My fiance never wears watches ...although maybe if I got him one he might. It is definitely something I'm considering. Like @@acw271011 my guy is a big techie - loves his tools and gadgets! We don't have kids but father's day is his favourite day to go shopping - everything he loves is on sale lol!

We've also been talking about just doing letters to each other and instead of gifts, putting that money towards our honeymoon (like @beckys98). We're thinking of maybe just going all out and having a crazy spa day to pamper ourselves after the wedding.  :D

I got Doug a watch on our way home from Jamaica. We didn't do gifts the day of. There was just so much that had happened right before we left it sort of got forgotten. but I picked up a beautiful Movado for him at duty free in the airport thinking it would be something he would wear but nope. Only wore it for about a month then that was it. He just doesn't wear watches, doesn't really even like to wear them. He received a beautiful gold one for his 35 years service at work and it sits in the box on his dresser collecting dust. I would love to do a gift for him for our renewal with something special engraved on it or in it to let him know that the fact that he stuck with me through all of the hospital stuff, even holding a bucket while I threw up, that it means the world to me. There are a lot of guys that would NOT have stuck around through it all.

For someone that loves watches it's a beautiful idea and a good one! And so are the cufflinks for someone that wears them! Great ideas for sure. And the photo shoot is awesome but I'm too old for that! lol You young ladies would be perfect for that kind of thing. The chain is also a good idea. For me though, lol none of it works!! Doug is mr. techie and loves his toys!! And it bugs the heck out of me because every time I get an idea, or think I have an idea for his birthday, or Xmas - he just goes out and buys it himself!

So I would also be in the market for any ideas!! I'm getting him a new ring because his wedding ring is so big now that he wears it on his middle finger (no don't go there! lol) We can only have it sized once because it's tungsten so I thought about having a ring engraved but the space is so limited.

Guys are so hard to shop for. Juan does the exact same thing, he wants something and goes and gets it and totally ruins all my gifts. He also loves his gadgets but the the thing with tech is that it will become obsolete in a few years and I want something that he can keep for years to come. I thought about engraving something for him too but I'm the least poetic person you'll ever meet. Actually writing poems in school was pure torture for me. I'm more of a story kind of girl :)

@wafflesmom  I love the idea of giving it to him before the ceremony.  I love both ideas for tag messages...  I think I like the 'spending every minute with you' ...more.

It's such a nice idea.  I do like the see you at 3pm idea too...ahh I'm torn for you too.  I'm thinking of engraving a double infinity sign on the watch that says 'you and me'.

aww.  I'm getting emotional.

We weren't going to do gifts as we paid for the wedding ourselves - like this was our gift to eachother but I found Shawn a silly shirt I knew he'd love. Since he knew I had gotten him something he surprised me with a pandora charm for my collection.

We just exchanged gifts in the am but opened them with our bridal party members for photo opps later as we got ready. I wrote Shawn a long heartfelt card but he didn't hahahah!!!

The shirt is cute as Shawn always calls himself a ninja. I would have done a watch for him but I had gotten him one last Christmas. I had no other ideas than a boudoir shoot but I'm too shy and cheap! Haha they are pricey here!

I like the first idea, only because I like the gifts being a private moment rather than having everyone witness it :). Besides I'll be too much of a nervous wreck on the ceremony to come out of the script hahah.

I agree. I like #1 best. You will be so in your world that unless you write it in your vows (if you are doing those) you will forget.

@@TinkerSofi @@veryvalentine and @@calgarybride2015 a part of me thinks that it should be private when we open our presents to each other and I agree that I may be so nervous that I forget it

but on the other hand, I would love to see his reaction when I take the wedding watch and say our vows. He's been bugging me that a wedding watch is more his style but I want him to wear a wedding band. So I think he'll love actually being presented a watch. I was thinking of getting a box to place our wedding rings and I could place the watch in there to remind me. We will be saying our own vows so I can incorporate that the watch represents every minute of our lives we'll spend with one another.

@@veryvalentine I love the engraving if a double infinity and "you and me". Now I'm getting emotional lol

My honey has been practicing the sentence "I don't know... ask my wife" for the past few months. He does it in different voices and everything, so for his gift, I got him a white T-shirt that says "I don't know... ... ask my wife" from vistaprint.  I'm going to give it to him at our rehearsal dinner. I also ordered him a tie clip from etsy with his initials, and our wedding date on the back that I'll give to him on our wedding day.

@wafflesmom     Ohhh, in that case I think that would be a great idea.  How thoughtful.  At least if he doesn't wear the band and he does wear the watch, you know that it has just as a special meaning to him because you guys said your vows with the watch and band.  It's a different idea and you seem really passionate about it, I say go for it.  I like it, it's unique ;)

@@MissJen3 what a thoughtful idea! :) He will love it!! May be hard for him to read 365 reasons with so many nerves but i bet it will calm them down reading how much you love him!! Great idea!

I buy my fiance a watch every year for his birthday, Its just something that has carried through for us. So a watch wouldn't be something i would get him as a grooms gift.  :( I really like the idea of socks " for cold feet" saw some i liked on etsy so that may be one of the items... I saw a really funny flask that had the phrase .. .. My Yes Honey Potion .. engraved on it.. something he may get a kick out of . LOL but honestly haven't placed to much thought .. still have some time...
