Now Larimar - 2016

Recommended Posts

It is cool - that is a big part of why we picked them ... we just want everything to be super simple.

Our planning is pretty much done!    We have all of our final RSVPs and everyone's final payment is due Jan 15.

After that, I just need to move across the country, find a new job, find a house.... lol

Our life situation is funny so the wedding is actually last on my list right now.

How about yours???

Terrible! I sent our priest the mailing address a few weeks ago and today I found out that he will be forwarding the address on Monday! So I'm not too comfortable putting down any deposits for the catamaran cruise since the day hasn't been secured with the church yet, plus we're still working on what we'd like for the cruise. Did you ask for anything specific? We're thinking of the crazy hour. Our rsvp date is on Monday too, so we actually don't know how many people will be going. Luckily we didn't invite too many people so everyone should be easy to track down. I probably should've picked up a wedding planning book or something; I've been pretty much planning on the fly, haha!

Oh wow! Moving? Good luck! New scenery is always cool. Either my fiancé or I will be moving too. We live about 17 hours apart.

Sorry for the small vent! am hoping someone on here as some great advice. Today we received 7 peoples rsvp- that have decided to go with booking their own trip on various websites. Its not so much that, as they are coming and leaving on different days than the travel agent had reserved. My future in-laws just informed me they are not flying in til the day before the wedding. She told me they would be there sometime the afternoon before. They are planning a long trip, and want to use the DR as the jumping off point for seeing more islands. They already have booked flights. Ugh.

I had been looking at doing a group excursion the day before the wedding instead of a rehearsal dinner - I wrongly assumed my fiancés family would be there in advanced.  His sister is also coming the day before as well!  How have other people rehearsed? Does excursions the day after sound ok? I can not see people wanting to get up at 8am, so guess I would need something that allows people to recover. I was wanting to do the excursions before the wedding to allow people to meet and talk.  I guess back to drawing board for welcome ideas.

I think planning a group excursion is a bit much, honestly.  I just returned from my wedding week at Secrets and most people just wanted to relax at the pool or beach.  It's hard to please everyone with something like excursions.  We did a "rehearsal" dinner at La Riviera the night before the and afterwards most people ended up at the casino or other bars.  We also did a farewell breakfast at La Riviera the morning after the wedding.   To get people to meet we did a "meet and greet" at Rendezvous bar 2 days before the wedding.  Some people didn't get there until the day before and that was their loss.  You can't please everyone.  One of the groomsman was literally there less than 48 hours.

Does anyone know if the resort allows children in the bar area for things like meet and greets?  Or is there a different location that everyone could meet up? The ironic part of my situation is that my future in laws gave us money to pay for excursion as a thank you to our guests. We hadn't even considered it til they mentioned it.

Did other people have their guests just not use the travel agency? So far only one couple has used our agency, the others haven't even contacted our agent before booking their own trips.

I'm assuming that since Now Larimar is not an adult only resort that children can pretty much go anywhere with adults.

I am getting married in May and did not set up a travel agent for booking.  My fiances sister got married in DR in July and went through a travel agent after looking at various websites we were actually able to find a much cheaper price for the flight and hotel so we ended up not using her travel agent.  When we booked our trip for May we went through Bookit.com and got a great deal!

I didn't see any children in any of the bars at NOW, but that doesn't mean they weren't allowed inside.  I honestly don't know.   There is always the main plaza area at NOW to meet too.  There were children all over the plaza.

Except for the 6 rooms we booked for our immediate family, everyone else booked on their own.  Some booked directly with resort, some used a travel agent.  Are you financially obligated to have a certain number of rooms booked through the travel agent?

I put together welcome bags for our guests and they were a huge hit.  It was a lot of work, but I think my guests really appreciated it.  Personally, I think doing a group excursion will be hit or miss.  It is a nice sentiment, but unless you know that all of your guests will actually want to do it, it could be a waste of money.  I get horrible motion sickness and I know many other people do too, so I wouldn't do anything on the water.  Just my opinion.
