Hair / Make Up

Lucky for me one of my best friends and Bridesmaid is a Hair dresser and she has offered to do my hair! We have been friend since 0 and I cut her hair once when we were 10...not good, not good at all!!...let’s hope she doesn’t take this as her moment to exact her revenge...lol.

I have decided to have my hair up...I get too hot with my hair down...here’s my inspiration:

I also want to do a small gold head band like this:

headband

I bought this one at aldo and I’m was thinking of taking  off the elastic and adding ribbon instead...any opinions?

For Make-up....I’m going to do it myself I think...well that’s the plan! I don’t normally wear make up so when I’ve had my makeup done in the past for friends weddings its always been WAY TOO MUCH and I don’t look like me at all! I’ve made an apt with Sephora for a 90 min makeup consult...hopefully they can teach me what I need to know..eek...I just want something simple, beachy and natural...I am however going to get eyelash extentions J. I like the Blake Lively picture above for makeup and this one below too.

Omg, I know!  Like in a business where a booking means you get paid, you would think that customer service would be #1 priority.  We can book flights on our own.  The only reason we went with a TA was for the perks I guess, but I actually could have done that directly through Sunwing.

The bulk of my stresses was definitely travel related, whether it was deposits, people not hearing from the TA, the TA just not answering my questions etc etc.

I know what you mean!! it seems like the answers never come fast enough...I've learned to just let it go...hindsight is always 20/20

Love the hairstyles and it's so funny you would say that. My best friend who is in my wedding party (since we were 10 years old) I cut her hair when we were ten as well. I haven't lived it down still to this day hahaha

hahah! Glad I'm not the only one who gives bad hair cuts!

@@deecol Thanks! I thought that hair style was really cute with the braid..I like the Messy / Dressy look of it.

Bridesmaids

I have 4 Bridesmaids....no Maid of Honor, me and FI agreed not to choose a MOH or BM because none of bridal party live close to us currently and each of them are special for different reasons . My Girls are my closest friends,  2 I have known since birth, 1 since grade 7, and the other since university...they are sisters that I never had...

I decided I wanted the bridesmaids to wear bright blue and I picked a dress out at David’s Bridal last June...but since then it has gone up in price from 130 to 180! Boo...I’m thinking that once the summer wedding rush is over the price may drop again...but I’m on the search for an alternative just in case....any suggestions...it has to have straps....my girls are chesty...lol...strapless just will not do!

Dress

For their Flowers I wanted to do something like this:

Bridesmaid flower

I found these at Micheals and I’m going to tie an ivory ribbon around it with a big floppy bow. I think I need to cut them to make them shorter too. They look and feel real

Flowers

That's it for my updates today :)

@meanwhile I love the hair ideas! And I think that hair piece will look good with a ribbon. It will look so romantic. Maybe ask your friend what she thinks since she'll be able to determine if it will go with your style inspiration or not.

And I can't believe the price went up on those dresses! Definitely worth waiting if you're not in a rush

Have you thought about maybe ordering a convertible dress?  It would have straps and they can style it as they see fit for the body type?

I looked into www.henkaa.com but ended up going with The Daintyard online thanks to another fab lady on this forum's recommendation.  :)

I should add that the dresses on the Daintyard were about $60 each.

I will ask my friend...I guess she will have a better idea! I hoping they go down in price by the end of june at the lastest.

I hadn't seen your planning thread!!

It sounds like you guys are just meant for each other. I'm sorry about all the stuff you two had to go through in the last year but I'm sure you came out as a stronger couple for it.

Your gran reminds me a lot of mine haha. Mine luckily hasn't had to deal with illnesses but she such a strong willed woman, independent, full of energy, and she always does what she wants without caring what people think or say about her. I really admire her. They are such good role models :D

I love all your planning so far. I have the same flowers from Michael's, however I bought them a long time ago because I liked them and now I'm not so sure they go with anything that I have planned so I don't know if I'll use them. I might keep them to make a flower arrangement for my house :)

This kind of reminds me of the wedding theme haha. I, like you, have no wedding theme, just a bunch of things that (I think) go well together haha. It's actually called a whimsical theme, so we're not totally lost lol. There's a name for the randomness! Sometimes it makes it hard though because there's no theme and so you like all these things and are afraid that you'll end up all over the place. I think from what you posted, things still follow a common thread, even if you can't quite name it.

I'm sorry to hear about AC messing everything up. They're definitely not my fave to travel with but I'm sure it will all work out in the end. Thankfully you have a good TA who has your back.

For bridesmaid dresses, ours are really similar, they were $150 and they gave us a discount for getting 3 so I ended up paying $120 for each. I'm going to go now and try and find what they're called.

For the headband, you could add a ribbon to it or leave it like that. They can probably hide the elastic with your own hair and no one will know. I guess it depends what look you want to go for. Some girls really like the ribbon. The only reason why I didn't want the ribbon is because I find that it ends up slipping and coming undone all night, and so my hair looks like a big hot mess at the end :P. It looks very pretty though :)

Last year our dresses were $160 at David's Bridal, but unsure what they would be today!

I would suggest checking out prom type stores or special occasion type stores - we have some in Calgary but I know those won't help you :)

Also stores like 'Laura' has a formal section where I know a co-worker of mine scored her bridesmaid's dresses.

Try SEARS and the BAY!   They also have some fancier things.

Those bridesmaid's dresses were soooo hard for me to find. I was trying to stay under $100 each and it was soooo hard to find something in fuchsia.  I finally just gave up and went to David's! Hopefully your color is easier to find than mine!

Love your hair choices!!

Thanks! Yeah the theme is total randomness..haha...I guess we will see how it all ends up once I have it put together! Those flowers are so real looking it's crazy! You should definitely use them in your house.

AC is definitely a pain in my ass! But I'm trying to be patient...I just keep telling myself that it's their busy season and it'll be better once May or June rolls around.

As for the headband I was thinking of changing it to ribbon to make it a little more dressy and because those darn elastic things never stay on my weird shaped head...they always slip off and I lose them.

Where did you get your bridesmaid dresses?

@@calgarybride2015 Thanks for the suggestions...I'm going to have to do some window shopping around town this weekend....I've mostly been looking online because my girls were going to buy their own dress and they are all over the place...one of them is a place so remote the nearest McD's is 5 hrs drive! Maybe I will have to get them.
