Flying With Rings

Recommended Posts

I was thinking of wearing it around my neck as well. I do that sometimes when I help my fiance with renovation work and I don't want it getting dirty. I don't like leaving it around when I'm not home.

@calgarybride2015 like you I'm more concerned about it at the resort. I won't be wearing them in the water (I take my ring off when I shower, wash dishes etc. at home), also I have a friend's husband who lost his ring in the ocean on his honeymoon.  :(  I'm a little concerned about safety at the resort though...even in the safe.

I was thinking maybe putting it in someone else's room safe so it isn't as obvious that it is in the bride and groom's room. Am I being too paranoid??

When we go on trips, I wear my engagement ring by and in the pool, snorkeling/excursions, etc. I've never had any issues, but, of course, it's insured just in case. I place all of my valuables in the safe when we are not in the room. I think the important factor for the safe is that it is one where you input a new lock code each time you re-open and close it. That way, only you know the code. I would imagine most places have these kinds of safes now. Another thing that we frequently do is keep the do not disturb sign on the door so that we do not get any housekeeping service (or you could get it once every few days instead of every day). This will at least limit the traffic flow in your room. :)

I didn't wear mine in Mexico. I was scared for it to fall off in the water haha not sure how as I could barely get it on for the wedding. In the in room safe was ok but I've read reviews so made me nervous -- but my electronics are worth more so funny I was scared about the rings more :)

@@nadiakat17 haha it doesn't bug me either. I'm pretty laid back

Good tip on the do not disturb sign! I use that tactic too! I've only had things stolen once whilst in Mexico. It was 12 years ago and the safes were key only. My friends didn't put their money in it but instead hid their money in various pockets of clothing and then packed up and put back in the suit case. The maids stole all of their money. Young 18 year olds we were. I always leave 5 on my table with a thank you note hoping the maids won't take my things and it has never happened.

I have had some sketch situations with finding my luggage torn thru by tsa before and I'm not taking a chance.

But all good ideas and tips!

I've had my bag checked one between Canada and Vegas. Pissed me off when I opened my suitcase. Never happened otherwise.

Hubby's mom left all her stuff in her suitcase and used a hefty lock. She said 'try to steal my whole bag' lol. Worked for her
