Flying With Rings

Recommended Posts

I guess if you are superstitious. But your spouse tried that ring on before he bought it and probably when it arrived after ordering it, sooo he's had it on already :) opposite hand works too. We were actually legally married before Mexico so technically he could have been wearing it anyways lol. It didn't take away from our day whatsoever.

I guess I'm in the minority but for me I want the wow moment of seeing us wearing rings for the first time after the ceremony.

We didn't wear ours on the plane but hubby wore his around once in awhile as he decided it was too small and ordered a larger size. That said, it didn't take away from the day whatsoever. The same as us legally marrying here first didn't take away from out symbolic in Mexico whatsoever. For us it's more the 'omg I can call you husband or wife now' or 'omg I just changed my name' But everyone is different.

It's odd forcing myself to sign my new name. I'm a nurse and sign it a lot and I have been 50/50. Hahah have to create a new habit now :)

Great post @@LisaAnthonyPoppy!  I hadn't thought about this yet.   I always wear my jewelry when traveling as well but have a feeling the Mr. won't agree with wearing our wedding rings on the plane.   I'm going to have to do some thinking!

I haven't never even thought about this and I've also never heard of anything being stolen because they are under huge supervision too.  Like there are cameras everywhere.  I'm sure they would risk losing theirs etc etc..but anyway, I'm sure just about anything is possible.

I think the FI and I are def. going to be wearing those puppies as I'm not in the mood to even risk losing the money.

@LisaAnthonyPoppy - Knock on wood and never say never, but I have traveled quite a bit and I have never had this happen to me nor have I heard of it happening to anyone else. Of course, I always keep an eye on my belongings at all times, even when going through security screenings. I have been randomly searched from time to time and have never even been asked to step away from my bags. Quite frankly, if someone were to ask me to step away from my bags for any reason (without at least leaving my fiancé to watch them) I would refuse. I often travel with valuables, so I don't mess around when it comes to watching my stuff.

One suggestion I have is to carry the rings in something more inconspicuous than a ring box. At least that way if someone does have to search your bags they're not sticking out like a sore thumb and no one would even know you're traveling with them.

We travelled to Jamaica with ours but I put them in my purse, not the carryon. I wanted them close by, and I just put both in the one box. I'm like JenniferH114. I keep an eye on my stuff at all times. If anything that's one of the questions they ask you when travelling - has your luggage been out of your sight at all so absolutely I watch it.

We've been to Mexico 4 times and Jamaica and have never had an issue, even with the in-room safe. I have a friend that was in upstate New York and checked out of the hotel leaving her wallet in the safe. She went back about 5 hours later realizing what she had done. The maid was there but my friend just went to the safe, keyed her code, opened it and took out her wallet. It was still there!

I know there are lots of horror stories but sometimes I wonder if you hear about them because they don't happen that often.
