For those of you who wanted to know, Riu has finally responded to my question about the day pass. If you are staying at one of the Riu you have to pay 45$ for a day pass if the wedding is at the palace. If you are staying at a completely different resort then you have to pay 95$.

Also, you can only eat dinner (a la carte or buffet) at your own resort. So if you are staying at the palace and you want to have dinner with friends staying at the Yucatan, you can't. After 6 pm everyone needs to return to their own resort.

They sent me a price list of some of the extras. Give me your email address if you want me to send it to you!

Good luck! :)

Hey @@SunyMel

This resort is high up on my list of possibilities. Would you be able to email me the price list of extras? donna.jo88@@gmail.com

Thanks!

I agree about the high price to have a wedding at the Riu Palace - ours will probably be over $10,000 since we will be having approximately 50-60 guests. But I figure it's cheaper than having it back home, and it'll be nicer to spend quality, relaxed time with friends and family on a vacation, so I'm well ahead! We are also comfortable paying a slightly higher price to ensure quality of food and service, as the Riu Palace Riviera Maya has virtually no negative reviews. I'll pay for a little piece of mind!

I totally agree rbehlke! I don't mind spending a bit more to have it extra special, and it will still be way cheaper then having a big wedding at home. At first we thought we would have about 50 guests, we are now at 70 and many more are planning to book later! We are having ours at the Riu Palace Mexico. I haven't decided where we will have our reception yet, thinking the steakhouse? Where are you having yours?

We have booked Chili's for the dinner and dancing. It's got a great menu with diverse options and is next to the beach so what could be better! It's also the only one that's open air and would fit our guests and a dance floor area.
