Veryvalero's Wedding Planning Thread - Grand Sunset Princess

Recommended Posts

@@MrsCtoB   I KNOW!!!!   I was thinking of you.  Thanks to your post about your experience I actually was brave enough to see what my options were.  I felt so ashamed that it didn't fit and embarrassed and wasted a lot of tears but at least it is resolved now.  I'm still gonna work hard because the new dress will probably be a little stiff.

I am so happy that it worked out! I know how you feel...the size of my dress literally made me want to cringe every time I saw it in writing or on the tag but it is important to remember that no one sees the size/measurements of your dress. As long as it makes you look and feel beautiful on your big day, screw the rest lol It is def important to work towards your goals so you feel your best but you are a beautiful woman and it seems as though you are truly happy and in love and that will make you more radiant and beautiful then you can even imagine. When I finally saw him on the beach on the wedding day, I have to say, nothing else seemed to matter. All this stress from the dress, details, etc. will melt away! It's a wonderful feeling and I can't wait for you to experience it.

Also, I think the humidity in the air definitely helped with the stiffness of my dress! It was a lot easier to get into that morning.  :D

@@calgarybride2015 - totally talking Les Mills.  The FI and I a double class today, step class first and then pump!  Such a good morning.

We made some progress this weekend.  We bought the grooms gifts.  We found some great gifts at Fossil.  A travel bag perfect for the destination wedding with a luggage tag, passport holder.  I loved the passport holder because not only does carry the obvious, your passport but it has a special slot for the boarding pass and luggage receipt and a pen to fill out the travel cards in the plane.  Love it.  They also have a little card carrier for their hotel room key and some bills.

I took pictures of my bridesmaid gifts earlier but my camera was dying and my pics turned out yellowish so I retook them because they didn't do Kate Spade any justice.  I am making them all jewellery for their dresses.  Haven't designed the jewellery yet but I am also giving them this necklace that will be perfect for dinners at night.

My fiance surprised me with a beachbag - so I'm totally getting so excited to start packing these things away.  Overwhelmed.

I think we found our cake topper.  Everyone I show it to doesn't get it though.  It's the "&" sign.  lol so we may use it as part of the decor at the reception and place it in front and centre of us.

My future mother in law found these adorably cute shells with a little zipper.   I was thinking of either including them as a souvenir in our OOTD bags and putting a peso in there for goodluck or filling them up with rice and leaving them on the chairs at the ceremony so that our guests can throw rice at us.  Not sure which one.  I think rose petals might look nicer in pictures so i'm not sure yet.

My future mother in law also bought us these fans and they come with their own organza bag.  We will placing these on each chair so that our guests can keep cool.

And finally, I made myself a necklace to match my pretty passport holder!  yay!

@@MrsCtoB   Thank you!  I started envisioning what you were describing ....all the stress melting away.  I get overwhelmed just imaginging the day.  It's so hard to picture it all coming together.  Sometimes it's hard to wrap my head around the fact that I'm getting married.  I'm sure this sounds odd.  lol

It sounds like you had an amazing ceremony and reception : )

I do sell my designs online.  I am veryvalero on Etsy www.veryvalero.com   :D

I feel like I'm coming so late to this thread - I'm really sorry. Jan, Feb & Mar are my worst months of the entire year, then Apr & May just suck in a more normal way, and I work a ton of hours during those first 3 months then down to only about 50 hours a week during the other two. I've only popped on in fits and starts late at night.

Firstly, your thread is awesome! Your wedding date is my husband's birthday! Don't tell him I said anything but he's 58 on June 20th this year!!  I love your ideas and all of the crafty things you've put together. I have two left thumbs so crafts and I just do NOT get along!! Coral and turquoise were my original colours but I've since switched to hot pink with the turquoise (or Begonia as it seems to be here lol good old Davids bridal. I have that swatch too!!) I love the coral. It's just so beachy for the Caribbean!

Your weight loss is inspiring! Truly! I'm old so weight loss has become a situation that I hate. I lost 25 lbs last summer/fall (a lot due to being in the hospital) and have now gained 10 of it back. yuck. I wish I could go to a gym a couple of times a week, never mind couple of times a day. it just isn't an option for me. I've had pulmonary embolisms twice and my breathing just sucks. I get out of breath just coming up from the subway and trying to be on the treadmill just a little bit at home so a gym routine, along with arthritis, is not somewhere I want to think about going!! I know you can stick with it - your determination is incredible!!

I'm so sorry about all of the mixup with your dress and very thankful they straightened it out as quickly and easily as they did. Who knew that there was a difference like that between a 14 and 14W. I'm going to play it very safe with my dress and just go at least a size bigger. If I was young like you ladies I would probably do the thing of going smaller but at my age, I don't need the extra pressure!!

I'm curious about the resort you picked. It was one I had looked at but the reviews on air conditioning and the food quality worried me. You said you've been there before and loved it - you didn't have any food issues at all? Or with air conditioning in any of the restaurants? Did you stay in the Riviera section? I also heard that it's a huge resort and that there is a lot of walking? Did you find that?

I'm happy that you're feeling better and that your burn is healing. You'll definitely have to be very careful in the sun when you go to Mexico!!

@@veryvalentine I can't tell you how happy I am that you got it all resolved, and you didn't wait another minute stressing about this!  Can you imagine if you had waited another week to find all this out - that would have been so much unnecessary stress! and now you have one more week to get everything straightened out :)  I just know that you will look beautiful on your wedding day.

Wow how does one lose 10lbs in a week? On a good round for me that would take 4-6 weeks!!! Congrats.

Nice work on the price drop - that's awesome.

Everything is coming along great.

@veryvalentine

10lbs in one week!! Please tell me your secret!! What are you doing?

$200 Price Drop too! It's all coming up roses for you this week!! That is so AWESOME!

I wanted to do sparklers...but I don't think my resort will allow them...I'm going to have to double check that....doing your first dance with sparklers would be such a pretty photo opt....just a thought...make sure there is something for your guests to light them with...

@calgarybride2015  @@Meandhim

I've just been really determined.  I cut out carbs  and sugar.  I never felt hungry though.  Lots of proteins like chicken and tuna, and fruits to snack on.  Lots of lemon water, lots of lemon water.  I work out on my lunch hour and then I do step class or body pump at goodlife in the evenings.  I'm at a plateau right now but I'm just going to keep going because my body fat% is going down so that's a good sign of muscles! :)   It would be "hilarious" if my dress ends up being too big.  lol

We are excited about the price drop too!  It just means our guests will now have extra spending money!  So happy for them.

As for the sparklers, ya, we will have the bridal party equipped with lighters.  We will tell people ahead of time so that they know what to do and expect as well.  *praying for no rain*

I am so strict with my calories and I work out 3 times a week (not 2 times a day mind you) and I can't pull that off!!!!

And I have lost over 100lbs!   MAN!!!!  give me your genes, I am jealous!

oh and lemon water is my favorite. My co-worker bought me this infuser water bottle, so I add a whole lemon to the bottom of the bottle and there is a filter. LOVE IT!
