Tinkersofi's Planning Thread - Azul Fives August 13, 2015

So your guestbook!! I love the idea of a photo booth and I love the idea of a sheet to be filled out... I did this for my friend at her destination wedding in Vegas! I took pics of everyone in the photbooth and then had them fill out a sheet I had made with questions like... What was your favourite part of the trip? What is your one wish for the couple? How many children should they have? Boys name girls name? When you are married you should always.... Or you should never..... I can't remember the rest right now.

Once I got home I scanned the sheet and created a photo book for her with photo book Canada .. I had a groupon... One page had a picture of a person or couple and the opposite page had their message.... At then end I put in all the random photo booth pics in a heart shape collage ... She loved it!! The pics were so fun and the info sheets where all different and funny. I might repeat it for my wedding... Maybe

I can send you an example tomorrow if you want I'm in bed right now :)

that sounds awesome! I like those questions more than the picture I posted. I had seen another one but couldn't find it. If you could post a picture that would be great!

I totally want a photo booth. I was thinking of just bringing a few props (there's also a lady over in Playa who rents some props out, so less stuff to bring), my dad has a nice camera with a control remote and a tripod. So I was thinking of just setting that up so people could take their own pictures. Then printing some of those photos when we get back and sending one to each person as part of the thank you card. I still have to work out the logistics of this, mainly how the light would work. It won't be a professional set up, so that's what I'm afraid of, that they'll turn out too dark. I guess I have to try it at home one of these days and see how it works. I really don't want anything too complicated. I probably won't even have a backdrop, well unless you consider the stunning real ocean as a backdrop ;)

So here is what I did:

1. figured out what shape album I would probably make....I picked square.

2. I created a square form in photoshop with different questions I saw on Pinterest...make sure it is the same size as the album page you want to make. I couldn't find the Photoshop file this morning but I will post it for you if I can find it.

information Sheet filled out by brides brother

this one was filled out by the brides brother, I like having peoples handwriting...I had considered typing them all out in a new form but I didn't...and I'm glad I didn't.

3. I created some signs using wooded dowels from the dollar store and card stock...there are so many printable's

4. lucky for me we were in Vegas so there were tons of places to buy props once we got there, I did buy a few things like paper beards and easy to pack things here.

5. I bought a foil curtain to tape to the wall as a back drop...but I didn't end up using it because the room where we had the reception had a huge crazy red velvet curtain...so I just sat people in front of that.

6. I used my Nikon and on camera flash to take the pictures, but I actually put the pictures on my phone and edited them with instagram so they all looked the same... I got my friend Lisa or My FI to take the pictures when I was in the picture. I made sure to get at least 1 of every couple attending first and gave them their form to fill out. After all the couples were done we had a few random weird ones.

Grooms Mom & Dad

Me & My FI

Bride & groom

So the best thing about this is you can tailor it to fit your wedding...the one I did was very Vegasy...but depending on the props you can change it to suit your wedding / location. You can also get or DIY alot of paper props that are easy to transport...check party stores, dollar stores etc.

Having the camera set up with a remote is a good idea but I would still have someone in charge of making sure everyone fills out the form and gets at least one picture taken. I think the on camera flash will be fine...have your dad make sure the camera is set to auto and the Focus is right...otherwise you will end up with blurry pics! Alternatively you could easily use a regular camera phone to take the pictures...there are also some good photobooth apps....but a cell phone or small camera may be harder to keep track of you may want to have someone take the pics if you do that.

Hope this helps :)

Hey! I would probably combine the 2. If you were really into the Polaroid idea my friend offered me her leftovers for our wedding but I went another route. I could ask if she wanted to get rid of the extra.

Also the other idea presented is fun!!

At the very least if you did a photo booth then had the cards for the guestbook you could totally add those together. The nice thing if you did use the digital is that if they fade over time you can reprint them (you could use photo corners in the book so they can be slipped out and changed).

I've seen cheap photo booth props at party stores and michaels. Honestly though you could probably make your own from ideas on Pinterest.

Sorry if my ideas are scrambled. I'm also sick and can't think straight.

Congrats on booking your flights.

@@Meandhim thank you so much for this! It is so helpful. I think I am now leaning towards both. I like the idea of having a picture of the people who wrote the message and putting it all in a photo book is an awesome idea :). Just so 20 years down the road you can see the person (which is so much fun) and see what they wished for you :).

I agree with you that it's so nice to have the handwritten notes. It adds more character to the cards  :)

Thanks for the advice on the camera set up. I will try it out one of these nights, in the summer probably because I don't want to freeze haha, but just to see how things turn out with the built in flash. My dad is really good at setting up the focus and all that stuff so I'll leave that up to him. I know he'll be more than happy to help :)

I saw all the free printables and I was thinking I could totally do them myself. I also wanted to check dollar stores and party city since they might have some too. I also found a place in Playa where they sell party supplies for really good prices, so I might be able to find some of the bigger stuff there and then just leave them there.

Things to ponder and plan for sure! Thank you ladies for your advice, it really helps :D

@@calgarybride2015 you and me both, I've been like that this whole week, cold medicine doesn't even help :(.

I think I'll try out the digital camera route first and see how that turns out but thank you for offering :). I think you're right, it's nice to have a digital copy of the pictures in case you want to print them again later or use them for different things. Since I thought I'd include them on the thank you cards it will also be a lot easier than scanning and re-printing all the polaroids.

It does suck! Mine just came on, so I hope it doesn't linger too long.

I meant to say I loved that box too! Will be good to hold stuff after!  My little treasure box is full :)

that's what I was thinking too, that I'll be able to fill it with memories from the wedding afterwards
