Rsvps - How Long?

Recommended Posts

I sent out my invites the first week of January, expecting a flurry of RSVPs. I put the due date as March 10th because our room block expires shortly thereafter. I understand that people have to look into travel arrangements, costs, etc. before making a decision but I'm wondering how long, on average, did it take before you saw RSVPs coming in? Did they come in slowly but consistently?

@jeffandrobyn - I sent ours out in mid-December with an RSVP date of March 16th (two months before our wedding). We have gotten about half of them back. They come in very sporadically. We might get three and then nothing for another week. The funny thing is that some people who have already booked haven't even sent theirs yet. One friend said, "Well, you already know I'm going, so why do I have to send it?!" I don't think it can get much lazier than that considering we put stamps on the return envelopes!! ha!

@@jeffandrobyn I sent ours out at the beginning of December with an RSVP date of January 15 and only got a few back back by the deadline lol. But, I did not ask or expect any of the guests that have already booked to send back the RSVP because their booking counts as their RSVP. I sent a reminder to send the RSVPs back to me on the deadline to the people who haven't so they are finally trickling in. I made my RSVP deadline Jan 15 because I start to get penalized for cancellations in my room block after Jan 26!

We aren't doing printed invites, but we sent all information out in August 2014 for our June 2015 wedding. We sent a reminder email in early December and got a handful of RSVPs and plenty of verbal "yesses." February 6 is when we asked for deposits and RSVPs and we're seeing a steady stream now. NONE of my family has booked yet. Argh.

I'm going to start hounding people who haven't RSVPed on February 7. It is fair if they don't know yet if they are coming, but if they are a definite either way I'd like to know. There are plenty of people we haven't heard a single peep from.

Years ago it was almost unheard of not to RSVP to an invitation. Now it's commonplace. I just think it's rude. period.

Oh man I think everyone on here has stories about this, in general the rsvp rate seems to be very low especially with people that you suspect have no intention of coming or have verbally told you no. I took to sending out texts like just respond to this if you aren't coming! I even had quite the time getting the people who booked to rsvp... I guess they didn't realize I needed things like food choices, catamaran count etc. I am now disillusioned with the human race and am still shocked by the rudeness

@@nadiakat17 Disillusioned with the human race - Ha! I SOO feel you. I'm just completely amazed how stupid people can be. I have people who RSVP on our website and add the name of their plus one, but then don't mark "yes" for their guest. So it doesn't show up in my count. Also about 80% of the people who have RSVPed yes did so for our WELCOME EVENT and not the wedding. I just go ahead and assume that they are coming to the wedding if they are coming for the welcome event, but I just don't understand why it is so hard.

That is completely separate from the frustration with those who just haven't responded. We're going to be doing a TON of follow up with everyone - especially as we get closer and need meal choices. Super excited about all that :)

I was wondering about the RSVP thing as well....Anyone not doing an RSVP? I was thinking of that originally, but now were that were not inviting a huge group, I was just thinking of saying-' email us for RSVP' but nothing formal. Thoughts ??

Also when do you typically have to get final numbers to the wc? After reading on all the posts on this forum I was thinking you could prob give the final #s on the pre-wedding meeting when we arrive??
