Best "free" Resort Weddings

Recommended Posts

Hi girls! Recently engaged and looking to have my wedding in Mexico. It will be pretty small..around 15 guests. I'm looking for the best "free wedding" that some resorts offer. I've been looking online but it's hard to find the packages for every single hotel in riviera Maya and Cancun lol :) any recommendations? I don't want anything fancy but I would like some small decorative items and chairs.. I have no preference on hotels as of now is I'd be willing to try anywhere if they have a nice free or cheap wedding package..

Thanks so much in advance!!

You don't say where you are but first recommendation is get yourself a good travel agent!! Especially if you aren't sure where you want to be. They are the best person to help you find what you want, to fit with your budget and what you're looking for for your guests. There are several recommendations on the site so you could read through and figure out what works for the country you're in.

There are so many wonderful resorts in the Cancun and Riviera Maya areas that to try and pick one is not an easy task. You could always read through the resort reviews here and see if any of them click with you but until you're able to get some help with the packages, it might not work for you.

Good luck and happy planning!

My resort (Crown Club Paradise Cancun) offers a basic package for free if you have 10 rooms booked for 3 nights year.  It's pretty much the ceremony setup (including speaker/microphone) & the minister.

They have resorts in Cancun and Puerto Vallerta.

One thing that I have really appreciated with this resort is that they seem to be very upfront - they have package pricing straight on their website, they have very reasonable vendor fees (photographer is either 150 or 200, I cannot remember and makeup artists/etc are no fee), and the wedding coordinator Evelyn has been VERY responsive and seems to bend over backwards to help.  She's the only one who sets up/does the weddings, so I've been impressed with her responsiveness.  The prices for things seem pretty reasonable, especially when I read what some of the other brides are paying for things...yikes!

You won't probably qualify for free with 15 guests, unless they are all single haha, but the packages are very reasonable (under $1000 for the two basic, and the luxury is $1600 and includes things like champagne, massages, bridal hair styling & bride/groom bouquet/boutonniere).  They seem to have reduced them to 3 options since I booked (there were 5-6 options), but I've got 32 guests coming and am only at 18 rooms!  I still have 2-3 rooms hanging out with people who still aren't "sure", but at least I made the min for the basic package ;)

Feel free to message me with any questions, if you consider the resort!  My only suggestion is don't have your wedding during Spring Break here - I picked it for the reasonable prices with adults only and a GREAT kids club...but yes.  March 14th is the HEIGHT of spring break.  And while it's still reasonable...it's closer to the top of the range for the week than I anticipated lol (I saw it in September for 7 days/6 nights for 900 a person!)

I would say maybe look at Riu Palace Mexico or Riu Palace Riviera Maya (they are right next to eachother, just have different styles) I think Riu is good for small groups. We are getting married at Moon Palace, Playacar Palace was our first choice which is better for a smaller group. Palace resorts offer a complimentary wedding package (what i chose) that includes your bouquet, cake, chairs, and champagne for up to 30 guests, dinner in a restaurant. And based on the total nights of stay you can also receive free nights and free private events. I would check it out, for you I would recommend Playacar Palace, just because it is more intimate, in a great location (i toured it), very nice beach, has ruins, and the minimum night stay is 4 nights. So if you have 15 guests, lets say that equals to be 7 rooms, everyone stays 4 nights, thats 28 nights, then lets say you stay for 7 nights that equals 35 nights. With 35 room nights you will receive a free 2 hour private function, which is basically a free reception, on top of the complimentary wedding package. You can also receive up to $1500 in room credit based on your length of stay and can be used on excursions. This is if you are located in the US or Canada. Hope this helps. I have found using a travel agent found through this website, Wright Travel Agency, to be one of the est decisions so far. I also believe Hard Rock has similar promotions as Palace
