Kcole123 Planning Thread - April 17, 2015 - Melia Caribe Tropical

Recommended Posts

Well my mom has the raffia fans completed. When I ordered them I used her mailing address so they would be directly shipped to her because she agreed to bring them down for me. One less thing I have to carry down there. So I asked if she could pick up some ribbon and just decorate it how she thought would be ok. I wasn't very particular with these fans at all. She had the thought of picking up coral ribbon for the girls and grey ribbon for the guys (because my colors are coral, grey, and ivory).

I don't think they turned out too bad at all. I probably would have done them differently but no biggie. They are good enough for fans.

Girls,

I honestly cannot wait. I hate wishing my time away but I cannot wait to board that plane.

13 days till the legal ceremony

20 days we leave for Punta Cana

24 days until our wedding.

Eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeek can you sense the excitement...haha

I know! To make the time go by quicker, I have been counting down by the number of days I left at work!

Lucky girl! We have 21 days until we leave for Riviera Maya.

I think we are going to legalize things this Friday or Monday!!!

Well I've learned that you always have to check in on other's planning threads because you never know what topic (or off-topic) is going to be covered! Haha!

For the record, I take Seasonale and take it continuously as well. I can't fathom going back to having my period EVERY MONTH anymore...just seems so excessive :)

@@kcole123 I think you look gorg in BOTH dresses. I can't wait to see your pictures! We originally wanted 4/17 as our wedding date but it was booked and it stresses me out to think our wedding could have been coming up that soon. 78 days for me! Which is simultaneously too far away and not enough time!

Not as far away as you think. It creeps up pretty fast. I find the last 2 months are a head spin. This month started off with appointments booked, dress fittings. And I still have lots of appointments booked it seems.

I bring my second dress in tomorrow to start on alterations so I can imagine I will end up there a couple more times to see if everything is ok with it. It seems to never end but I honestly am loving it...lol aside from a couple stresses I had along the way.

This Friday or Monday? you must be getting so excited now too. More and more gets marked off that list everyday.

I really am!

I think we are going to get a lot of the "little" things done this weekend, so that will be a huge weight of my shoulders! Luckily, I don't have to work any more weekends leading up to us leaving for Mexico (woo hoo)!

I love the fans! I think they look great the way they are, and like you said, no biggie since no one will be looking at the ribbons in order to look at your and your fiance ;).  The little white flower is so cute.

I can't believe it's so close! It's crunch time! ;)

Ok so I don't know if I am having bridezilla moments or if people just want to drive me crazy.  You tell me.

God, where do I start with this. I have so much anger now I can't even type.

Anyway you probably all know, and seen me vent about this before, that we chose a kid friendly resort because that's what my fiancés parents thought was best and they got a little sooky over the fact we were even considering an adult only resort. So what did we do? Chose a kid friendly resort.

PLEASE PEOPLE WITH KIDS DON"T BE OFFENDED BY MY POST HERE TODAY

Anyway, we also decided to do ziplining two days before the wedding. We asked everyone to see if they would be interested. I figure this would be our stag/stagette kind of thing since we aren't having one before we go and then we can separate after the fact. Ok so my fiancés sisters can't go because of the kids. (One of his sisters is standing btw). Why can't the mother watch them (it's been done before). And the mother isn't going.

Anyway, something else, we have La Barcaza booked for our reception from 5-8 like I have stated already in this thread. I would like to extend it for another hour just because a lot of brides said by the time you do cutting of cake, eat, and first dances it goes by pretty quick. A lot of people I have seen on forum's and Facebook groups have said this. Anyway mentioned it to the fiancé, he loves the idea of the boat, but thinks extending it is not a good idea just because of his mother probably not wanting to be out there too long and because of the kids needing to go back and get to bed. When I spoke to his mother months back I mentioned that there is an option to extend the boat if we wanted. And she said "well I don't know if that's a good idea with the kids being there and all."

Also, Something else that happened today. Krystie Ann is who I have for hair and makeup so she emailed me today with the timelines of that morning. She has me slotted in for the time and left all other spaces empty. She also put had helpful tips in the email so I forwarded it to the girls in the bridal party (fiancés sister is one like I mentioned). She emailed back right away and said I will pick the later time next to you. She said "make a mental note of that because you know I won't be there any earlier than that." Like seriously? So I wrote her back and said "you guys can figure that out amongst yourself when you get there." She emailed back "well I don't think I will be there any earlier just because I have to get my son ready.

Like I don't have kids but couldn't she go to the earliest appointment and then get her son ready after she is done. So she obviously isn't going to be there with us while we all get ready. She is just coming long enough, by the sounds of it, to get her hair brushed and go on again.

Like seriously girls, do some of you feel like planning this wedding has been to make it other peoples day? Why do it feel like it's not only mine and my fiancé's day. Like what do you do? Do you accommodate around the kids? Like am I being crazy?

URGH I just had to vent and need feedback because if my hands shake anymore than they are I will need a cast to keep them still. I am at work right now and don't even want to work because I am so angry.

I don't think you're being a bridezilla. I don't have kids either so I know that I'm not in that position to speak. However, I remember countless times when we were kids and my parents would go out to an event, we'd go with them and if we got tired they'd just put two chairs together and we'd sleep right there in the middle of the party haha, or we'd just rest on one of my parents' lap and sleep. I mean it's one night, an important night. It's really not going to kill them to stay one hour later.

Is your sister in law going alone or with her husband? If she is going with someone else, someone could easily watch her son while she gets her hair done and even start to get him ready so she only has to do some things when she comes back. I'd try to suggest that and maybe tell her that you just really wanted all of you guys to be together during that time, but if it doesn't work out there's not much you can do and I'd just accept it the way it is (even though I wouldn't be totally happy haha)

I do think with the extended reception you have to put your foot down and do whatever you want to do. You're not asking them to stay with their kids until 5am, really. Chances are the kids are going to be so excited that day that they either will fall asleep in the middle of the party without any problems or they're going to be running around until the party is done hahah.

I do think that in some cases it's true that people can't do things because of their kids and it's totally understandable. They're on a totally different timeline than people without kids. That's why I would respect her decision not to come to the zipline if she's not comfortable leaving her son with someone else, and to some degree coming to the latest appointment. I'd try to sway her on that one but if she still refuses, like I said you can't really say anything. Getting kids ready probably takes a lot more time than we think, so I could understand that as well. However, when it comes to your wedding and your time, I don't think they have a say. The kids will grow up and no one will remember "that night when they stayed up later for a wedding" but you will always remember "that time when I had to cut my reception short because people refused to let their kids past their bedtime"

Just my two cents.

Yeah I totally get what you are saying. I mentioned it to her but she said that she can't pick any other time and that's the only time she can do because she has to get her son ready. She has a boyfriend (which is not the boys father) so I totally get probably not asking him considering they aren't together that long. But I am sure someone can help her out. But she probably doesn't want to ask either.

I just feel like the sister or his side of the family doesn't want to be a part of anything. They are just going for a family reunion and losing sight of the fact that for one day there is a wedding.
