Riv Maya Time Change 2/1/15

Recommended Posts

Ladies, I saw today that Riviera Maya's time zone is changing from Central to Eastern time effective Feb 1! Extra hour of sun but also earlier ceremonies will be HOT! Slightly POed that my WC didn't alert me to this...http://www.worldtimezone.com/dst_news/dst_news_mexico11.html

Um - interesting!  I just emailed my WC to see how that affects my ceremony.  It might not affect anything ceremony-wise because I won't be able to get great sunset pictures anyway due to the water being east./sun setting in west.  It might just be lighter at the reception longer?  Ugh.

Thank you for posting!!

@@nattiegams325 For our flights does this mean we are arriving at a hour later than what our airline itinerary says? Am I thinking about that right?

Generally your itinerary is Mexican time, so I would assume if this is a new time zone change that you will get an updated arrival time :)

It could be a problem if you want a cooler ceremony and then you do your wedding earlier, moving one hour forward the wedding ceremony will be back one hour means hotter

Hello. Will this make a difference to a 5 pm ceremony in October? If I'm making the right calculation, it would mean the sun will set earlier, is that right? Or am I doing the wrong calculation? Thanks!

After March 8th, it will go back to the way it has been. Eastern time zone will honor Daylight Savings Time and clocks will go forward whereas Quintana Roo will not follow Daylight Savings any longer and will be one hour earlier than Eastern time. I assume when the clocks change again in the fall, the time zones will sync again for all the fall brides.

Thank you! I'm not the only one freaking out about this!! lol saw it on Facebook from Zoetry's page update...

Waiting to hear from my wedding planner to see if we can move the ceremony to an hour later - I wanted a sunset wedding not a wedding in the heat of the day!
