Music Of Cocktail Hour?

Recommended Posts

Ugh yeah 45 mins for a mariachi band was 850$... No way! They also said the speaker system we are renting for the reception can't be moved to the cocktail and we would have to rent a whole new one at the five hr price of like 1500 .. For one hr again no thanks. We bought a travel Sony speaker that is super loud . I'll make a playlist and have someone just hit play ( prob my brothers or sister in laws sig other) and get it started. There has to be music but I want to keep it cheap. Haha if I was at an AI and mine wasn't included I would probably tell everyone to gather at the same bar

I'm just gonna throw this out there. My DJ gave me a discount that he doesn't normally do bc I hired him a yr in advance for a weekday and well I flat out asked him for a discount. He said yes. So feel free to contact him to do the same. His normal rate is 800 for 5 hours.

When I told him I needed ceremony music on the beach and told him I planned on using a Bose sound link ( we've used on the beach and the waves wash out the sound) he said that would not be a good idea and that he would set up a speaker on the beach and play my exact ceremony music, and that way he could cross fade songs according to our timing etc... He didn't want more money. Said he would move the speaker off of the sand back to cocktail area Etc.

So if you aren't committed to a DJ look up - Audio Cancun.

You might not get the same deal as me but he will work with you and take care of speaker placement, ceremony, cocktail, and reception music.

Communication is excellent too.

I was so stressed trying to find the perfect vendor to meet my exact needs and spent loads on research, probably at least 3 months or more just on a DJ and Audio Cancun all the way.

@@IvanLuckiePhotography thank you for the advice! A 45 minute set from a live band is out of our budget. Our DJ package is 4 hours and our reception is only 3 - so I think we will just ask him to play music but not announce/speak/etc... hope it works ok =/

so then just plug your iphone/ipod/ipad in their system, It should not cost you a cent :) create a playlist and will be more than enough!

Cheers!!

I can not believe that in 500 weddings you have NVR seen a dj playing music during cocktail hour. Maybe not a full on dance party/MC but really?

We are having ours play NY/MIAMI chill lounge music during cocktail hour and take care of music during dinner.

Just can't believe u have never seen it.

Makes me feel like I'm doing something odd.

@@LisaAnthonyPoppy I know!! sounds crazy but  I am referring a DJ performing, playing a playlist, your DJ will set up a speaker  that will use for reception (assuming) I guess and probably will be the same or a close location for cocktail and reception and I am sure he will play a playlist not really performing music, right?

Cheers!

  • 1 month later...

This is the one concern I was having at my wedding as I really wanted to music to be played according to the mood of the houe. We booked banquet halls in long island and booked an DJ there and I must say that it went pretty well at my reception, Thank God he was paying the attention on what I wanted.
