Do I Have Enough Stuff For The Oot Bags?

Recommended Posts

Here is what I got so far:

-.Beach Bag with El Dorado Royale Logo (to be used at the bag)

- Welcome letter

- Riviera Maya tips

- Travel Impressions documents which include luggage tags

- Small bottle Mexican vanilla

- Small bottle of tequila

- Shot glasses

- Hangover kits with custom tags including advil, pepto, and "life support" cure shot (saw it at the bridal show this past weekend)

- Small flash lights (our resort gets pretty dark come night)

- Bug repellant wipes

I see some people include a lot more, but I have already invested about $400 in these :/ Anything else I'm forgetting that would be useful?

I wanted to do can cozies but they were almost $174 :( Anyone have a cheaper place to get them??

I'm planning to do one bag per couple and then a bag for each single person. I'm also going to give them to the guests prior to traveling as we already have a ton of stuff to get down there.

It's up to you and your budget/what you want to carry on the plane!

It sounds like a good amount, and your guests will be appreciative you even thought to do something like this.

Some of the best advice I've seen is that while we are immersed in oot bags on this site, most guests have never even heard of it. They are there to celebrate with you and have a vacation. The bags are to show appreciation for the travel and being with you. So don't worry about how much stuff to put in there - as long as it's thoughtful and useful, they will be thrilled!

You can always get some authentic Mexican treats once you are there for snacks if you think it needs some more oompf :)

I think what you have sounds fantastic.

Like the poster above, most guests have never heard of an OOT and whatever is in it is a bonus to them!  Sounds like that you have great basics and some Mexican favorites.

I personally wouldn't do any more!

Keep in mind most of your guests are not expecting anything. I'd be happy with anything I get so I think you're good.

Funny story, I had a long list of possible items until we sat down with the fiance and talked about it, he axed my list to 7 items hahah. We're budgeting about $300-400 for these. I think it's more the thought that counts and it's a way of saying thank you for coming :)

The ladies are all right. I think what you have sounds great and your guests will be happy with getting all of that. The bags are meant to be a thank you rather than favours the way you would with a wedding at home. When I came on this site 4 years ago I had no idea what OOT was or why you would do bags. Most people don't so I think you're good.

they sound good. My bag will basically consist of items we didnt think to bring to our first trip in mexico. Medication (pepto bismal, alka seltzer, advil) a welcome brochure with events and guests, bug spray, I think I should look for bug spray now actually. I plan to buy big containers of bug spray and fill them into travel size spray bottles and put them in there with a sticker. Aloe, maybe mini body washes, loofas, candles, playing cards. I want to make the key fob thing too

@travelgal78 I think what you have looks like plenty!  I was just thinking of a few individual sized medications (pepto, imodium, advil), an insulated cup or mug of some description, hand sanitizer, a room key holder on a wrist coil, and some aloe.

Has anyone done special Oot bags for just the kids?  What kind of stuff did you include?

I am putting my hangover/oh shit kits right in my cups :) so not doing bags. For the kids I just put in some snacks and gum. Kids will appreciate it due to the change of food they accustomed too - heck I would too and we don't have room to bring sand toys and stuff. We got some small coloring/activity kits for the reception table for them.

@@calgarybride2015 Putting everything in the cups is a superb idea.  I might steal that, haha.  My criteria for what to include is now "must fit in the cup".

That was my criteria too!!  I got a lot in too - tums, 2 pepto, 2 emergen c, advil tube, mentos, 2 bandaids, nail file, hand sani, and 2 business cards (wed pics and 'thank you for coming').  Gum didn't fit, but we don't get those tiny packs like you have in USA!
