I went to three different TAs and directly to the airline as well. Air Canada quoted me $1550 per person, roughly.  A local travel agency quoted me $1420 pp with westjet and $1550 for Air Canada. LaurieLee was able to get me $1519 pp with Air Canada, and  $1321.53 pp with westjet and convince the resort to honour their initial email saying that I could get married at the beach site of another of the complex's resorts. It has definitely been worth it for me.

A good TA is SO important. I've talked to about 5 since starting to look for a resort. A lot can't give you specific answers about resorts and others try to push you into a resort you don't like because they are familiar with it.

 

I recently found one who specializes in the country I was looking at and knew specifics about the resort I was most interested in. AND he was able to get me a better rate of $1102 vs $1200 all in, 7 days.

I had been harassing numerous TA's and Tour Operators for a long time .. I am sure they all have me blocked by now .. LOL ..

 

My BIL recommended a TA that he knows personally and she was able to get us a group rate of $1575.00 per adult, dbl occupancy through SUNWING @ RIU Ocho Rios - Jan.7-14, 2016, every 11th Adult free (minus taxes, etc.), up to max. of 4, departing Toronto .. IF you go on Sunwing.ca right now exact same is over $1900 per adult ..

 

So we are feeling pretty lucky right now .. It wasn't exactly what we wanted but it was the best deal .. The other resort we wanted is going for $2100 per adult .. *GASP* .. I was not about to make our guests pay that much .. Ridiculous .. So we compromised on our expectations ..
