Costs Pp Of Destination Wedding

Hi there,

I am wondering, in everyone's experience, what is the benefit of using websites such as Sunwing, Luxe Destination etc. for booking your trip?

I am not finding that their "group rates" really offer any discount at all! I am trying to make this affordable for my guests but am having a difficult time =(

Any advice?

I assume you are Canadian? Sunwing is a tour operator and is one of many companies that build packages for hotel/flight/transfers for Canadian travel and are much cheaper than piecing you own package together (on average), you still want to get a Travel agent

That specializes in destination weddings, who work with the tour operators in putting together your contract, the pricing and perks are well worth it!

Hi Petra, if you are really organized and determined you can build your own package. Contact the hotel directly and coordinate your flights.

Were you able to do this and get perks?

I got 2 free trips and an upgrade to first class. Well worth using a travel agent.

Things work different in Canada and I assume the OP is Canadian as Sunwing is a Canadian company.

Not sure if you are from US or Canada but generally you can't beat the charter flight packages that tour operators run up in Canada. The flight most often is almost free when comparing separating the two because they own the plane and have to fly down whether there is 1 person or 200 on the flight.

2 free trips as in 2 people stay free? Yes. No upgrade to first class.

We got 2 packages for free minus the taxes - so flight, transfers to/from airport, and 7 nights at the resort.

We earned 4 free (the Max for our contract) and then FI and I got upgraded to first class/elite (the rest of our group have all booked first class as well- so we will still be with all our friends.. We actually had too many people ask for elite seating and some couldn't get accommodated.

This is what really sucks. We won't be more than 6 or 8 so no special rates for us, plus it looks like a couple will be from the UK which of course won't count either! lol

@@Petra The girls are all correct! A travel agent will help you get perks that you won't get working websites on your own. Of course things depend on your numbers, and of course they try to gear it to the largest number possible, but it's still worth getting a TA that you're comfortable with and works well with what you want.

Good luck!
