Photographer Deposit

Hi Ladies,

 

I am in the process of trying to find a photographer and videographer for our wedding. We prefer them to be from the same company or be willing to "be from the dame company" to have one outside vendor fee, if we are unable to get day passes. What is the typical retainer fee for these types of services? I have seen 20% to 50%. I certainly think 50% is a little hefty of a deposit and a lot of money to put down over seas. I'm just wondering what is the average deposit I should expect.

I put down 50% for Del Sol in Cancun... I would also be skeptical of such a large down payment overseas if it wasn't for so many American/Canadian positive reviews. Definitely do your research before paying anything.

I only paid an $100 dollar deposit for Photos in Cancun.  Overall I felt their prices were very reasonable, and they have absolutely raving reviews.  I'd definitely check them out.

I paid 35 % down for Gonzalo Nunez!

He is seriously awesome!!!

 

We hired him for photographs and then our TTD session two days later I paid 35% for as well.

 

He was the most down to Earth and accommodating photographer I have had the pleasure to interview out of the top few whose work really shined.

 

I was really nervous hiring vendors bc some vendors ask you pay 100% in advance 2 weeks before weddings!!!
