How Much Are Your Guests Paying?

Okay so update,

I went to the wedding show AND the travel show this past weekend and all the planners there definitely helped me narrow down choose the location... Iberostar Laguna Azul. I also found a great travel agent there who was able to get me a quote of $1100pp (incl tax) traveling May 27 next year (7 days all inclusive). I am incredibly happy with this quote and am just quickly designing the invites this week (I want to give as much time for ppl to put down deposits etc as possible) and putting down the deposit by next Friday.

That's a wicked price. Where you flying out of? Congrats.

Thanks! We're flying out of Toronto :D -- and every 11th person free!

A little off topic, but I was wondering if you have put any thought into what you and your fiance plan on doing with the 'free 11th person' money?

My fiance and I have 2 free people so far and we have very mixed feelings about what to do with the money. Our TA gave us a couple options, but none of them seems just right. At this point I am thinking about taking half of it and putting it towards one of our trips, and splitting the other one between the rest of the guests. I cant help but feel guilty for keeping it...any of it really...

Oh we're definitely just taking it as a rebate on the final amount! We're not discounting other people's stay by the amount. We are paying for a few people's stays anyway so it really goes toward that.

We decided to use it towards extras at the wedding. Our rebate allowed us funds for the mariachi band etc. I thought my guests would appreciate that more than an extra $50 off their trip. I wouldn't feel guilty whatever you choose.

I've been watching pricing on tripcentral on the resorts for this May/June (just to give me a rough idea) and have eliminated properties based star rating and on the approximate pricing there (the ones that go well above my guests budget and are lower than 4*), then I went through and eliminated a bunch more based on tripadvisor, reviews and pictures.

The problem we are facing is some places are telling us that it's too early for a quote lol, when I got in touch with the tripcentral wedding planners they said to contact them again in April/May... so maybe I'm being to hasty in looking right now (For May 2016... but flexible)

Maybe check to see if you can find a travel agent that works with that hotel. Sometimes they can bend the rules a bit :)

We searched for a good few months and I drove myself crazy trying to figure out pricing and best resorts. I spoke to a couple TA's before finding a good one that my fiance and I vibed well with.

Our main priorities were budget friendly, decent/or free basic wedding packages, and a place where we could get legally married without doing blood tests or anything too nuts.

We started looking early and were SUPER flexible with months/dates. We were originally thinking Nov 2014 but we creeped closer to that date and found that prices in Jan/Feb and May were comparable for the resorts we looked at.

Our TA let us know that Mexico and Cuba are the most cost effective generally from Toronto. There's always exceptions to this rule of course. We ended up with a 4.5* in Cuba for $973 double and $1133 single taxes in.

Hi, can i ask at which hotel you have booked in Cuba? We're just starting to plan our DW & i'm debating between Mexico & Cuba.

Thanks
