Ahr Invites

Recommended Posts

When are you sending them out? Also what is the wording you will use? Our ahr is going to be only a month after we get back. I think we will need to send the invites out before we go, as I think people should receive them with longer than 4 weeks notice right? I'm not sure how to word it either. Would love to hear others ideas!

I am treating our AHR as if it were a typical wedding and sending them out about 4-5 months ahead of time, so that way I can organize numbers for food/booze etc. Ours is only 2 weeks after we get back, so I want a majority of it to be done before we leave.

As for wording....we are calling it an "I Do BBQ" as it will be super casual and just saying come celebrate with us. I am currently in the process of designing them so wording is not complete yet.

@@cometgirl That is so cute "I do BBQ" ! I love it. Ours is going to be a more formal, actual reception style as we are not doing any dances etc in Jamaica, just a small dinner and saving that stuff for the AHR. So I kind of want people to know that, and we are wearing our wedding attire again and everything. So I'm really stuck on the wording. I definitely want to have as much done as possible before we leave too!

@@danielleandryan2015 I saw one on pinterest that was an I Do BBQ but then had all the info for dinner and dancing etc. Another one I saw had the wording: We slipped a ring on each other's finger and made a promise for life...Join us as we celebrate now that we're husband and wife.  You are invited to attend a reception to honor the newly married.......

@@cometgirl thank you! That wording sounds very nice too! Do you think it would be weird to have wording like that on the invites if we send them out before we leave for Jamaica? I mean, sounding like we are already married even though we're not. Or does that even matter, really? Ugh I dont' k now why I over think everthing. Its driving me crazy!

I think it can sound like you are married cause the party will be when you are married. I wouldn't worry about that.

This is what we sent out. We had our AHR 2 weeks after we came back from Jamaica, but I sent them out as soon as we finalized the details, which I think was early September. We're quite a bit older with grown kids and aging parents, plus my family are all in the UK so there wasn't a huge group for us to invite. We had 30 people which turned out to be just a nice sized group. We had a great time. It didn't beat having family and friends with us in Jamaica but we worked with what we ended up with so it was ok.
