@@KatyM81 Funny you mention the website.  I just set up our website this morning.  I think it will be one of the easiest ways for everyone to get all the information and if there are any changes they can go there.  Thank you again for your post.  It has been very helpful!  :)

We actually made a Facebook page, website and sent save-the-dates.  Just finished our invites/rsvp we will send soon.  I think I only spent about $50 total for all.

We made our save-the-dates on Vista Print. I think we got a promo code and only paid around $5 for it.

Our Invitations and RSVP cards I made my self.  I found a template for $10. (there are some out there for free too).   Just purchased all my cutting, scorring tools with 40-50% off coupons from Michaels.  Purchased the paper/envelopes with coupons from paper company on line for about $30.

Save-the-dates: Postcards
Our invitatons:  Passports
RSVP: Boarding Pass Tickets.

We did something really fun for our save the dates!  We had an engagement party over the summer and invited all our family and friends.  We had about 80 people.  We knew that many people who not be able to attend the destination wedding, but it was a fun way to get everyone excited.

We hired a photobooth and designed the photo to have 'save the date" printed at the bottom.  All guests left with their fun and crazy photos which also doubled as a save the date.

@@misbosox Wow you were able to get everything finished for very little.  We just finalized our date, so I think I might do an e-card save the date and paper invitations.

@ what a great idea.  I don't think we have time for that, but if we did that would be so fun.  :)

  • 3 weeks later...

I am only going to be sending out my invitations about a year in advance and then make sure i have everyones email so i can send them updates if needed- also they will have the website details so they can know everything about the location and booking info. I am also going to save money by making them rsvp online. everyone has access to a computer and this will save money in the end.

My travel agent included customized save the date postcards, so those just cost us a stamp. The card had our wedding website on it for those who wanted more info immediately. We probably would've done an email STD had they not been free.

We sent out electronic Save the Dates in August 2014 for our June 2015 wedding. So far, we only have 3 couples who have put down a deposit (it is only $150!) and none of them are even our family. I'm planning to send out a reminder email this week before people get too crazy with the holidays to see if I can get more people to book. I've heard stories of our resort selling out or overbooking/bumping so I really worry if people wait too long they won't be able to stay with us! That kind of defeats the purpose.

I'm trying to avoid sending a mailed invite entirely - since I don't have people's addresses and they all have all the information already anyway! Oh and to save money.

We sent out magnets with our date and website on them in April/May 2014 for our May 2015 wedding, but people didn't even clue in that there was a website on them.

I got our invites this past Friday and they will be going out by the end of this week.
