Confession  2014/10/19

Yesterday I was just playing around on BDW forums and happened to click on the link on the side bar for 'Samual Luna' and OMG I am in love with his work.  I requested his prices which I thought would be so far outside our price range, but his basic package is what I am paying now!  The packages really aren't comparable as they offer different things (time, second shooter, etc.) but for that price I think he is a steal!   I am really torn, going to speak to Shawn about it later tonight.

We would have the vendor fee, and day pass which is manageable.     I haven't paid anything to our resort photog - they don't ask for a holding deposit, would it be tacky to cancel them should I choose to proceed with Samuel Luna?  Thanks for your opinions.

Samuel Luna is totally reasonably priced! We almost went with him too - he was our 2nd choice.  He's also lovely to email and he replies really quickly.  I'd personally switch from the resort photographer in a heartbeat, esp if you haven't put a deposit down

He also does really great TTD shoots! :)

On the plus side. I think when you pay the outside vendor fee you don't have to include the day pass ;)

I am pretty sure at my resort you do, if you want your photographer to eat!!!

But since it's a buffet, they may not even notice if he eats lol... well minus a plate, depending how they plate the area (a plate per seat, or a stack of plates at the buffet)....

oh ok. We just have to pay for the extra people to eat, it's still cheaper than a day pass for each of them.

On another note, I really like Samuel Luna's photos :). It is a tough choice because your current photographer takes really nice pictures too but I feel like Samuel has a bit more of an artistic touch to the pictures so it depends on what you like better, and whether you want to pay the outside vendor fee. I really like your current photographer anyways so I think either way you'll have great pictures :)

I went back into my contract and looked.

For photography it's a $300 USD vendor fee and $650 pesos (approx $54 CDN) day pass per person, which would be two as he brings a second shooter.  So about $400 more!  Which isn't over the top. I assume the day pass allows them to eat.

I don't think I can go wrong with with either, because I did do my research on photographers who work with Adventure Photos. I do love Samuel's artist touch though!

I am currently trying to figure out if we have to pay tax!  Nothing in my contract or FAQ mentions tax anywhere, but I know a lot of brides pay it - some 16% which is a lot more for my budget!!!   Hopefully I hear back soon from the WC.

Another thing, if you put down your deposit for your photographer sometimes it's non refundable. Mine isn't refundable if I cancel

Of I would assume it isn't either!   And I wouldn't expect it to be, just kind of got lucky that our resort photographer doesn't except a deposit.
