Canadian Brides, Single Status Affidavit?

Hey everyone,

Just wondering how you're going about getting this form - the information I'm finding seems to be implying that we can just create our own and sign it in front of a notary... is that legit? LOL

Is this something needed for the DR? Are you legally marrying there or in Canada?

I am legally marrying in Canada and from all I have read and/or heard from commissionaires of marriage (forgetting their real name lol), we just need a marriage license from the registry! They are about $76.

That is exactly right. I typed out the affidavit and a notary signed and stamped it. I used wedo.com.do to translate and legalize all the documents needed

It feels a bit weird because you just send them the documents and a money order and then they send it all back to you without any contact at all (I did email them to confirm the price, but I think I had to email them twice before I got an answer) so you have to just trust that it's all good (and it was!) It also took a bit longer than I thought, but I think that was actually UPS because it was right around Christmas. Anyway, I hope that helps!
