Canadian Brides In Mexico

@@kimmyd2 Yeah, we've told people that we're signing the papers here for legal reasons. We had someone ask whether we would do anything here when we get married before we leave (they're not coming to Mexico with us). I told them that we weren't sure yet, although we know it will just be our immediate family and we will probably just have lunch or dinner after but that's it. I think it's still an important date but I really don't need the stress of another event, plus it really takes away from the main thing which is our DW :)

thats a really good point, thanks. I would probably do something similar but wondering if the people at the dw ceremony will think something is off if the bride and groom and witness dont sign legal forms??  Or is there a some kind of certificate that we would still sign for symbolic?

You sign a certificate with your witnesses just as if it was the legal ceremony.

I have not decided yet but I think I would rather get married legally here and then symbolic in mexico. it seems as though my FI is up for that though so we will see! it seems like extra costs

Question for you ladies, will you get married in Canada and have a symbolic ceremony in Mexico?

Hello GingerBride,

As wedding planners in the Riviera Maya, we have found plenty of our brides choose to wed legally back home then have a symbolic ceremony once in mexico.  it can obviously be performed by a family member or your hotel or coordinator can get you the minister who can perform it in your preferred language.

Happy Planning!

Thank you so much for the wording! My FI and I have been trying to figure out what to tell people if the ask. I love the way you worded it :)

@@kimmyd2 I'm not mentioning it unless someone specifically asks. I read a comment on here that works really well when people ask if we're going to get married ahead or after - We're getting married in Mexico, but we will register our marriage before (or after). Signing the certificate is just a formality.

Hi Joyce, Thank you so very much for this response.  I didn't realize you could have a family member perform the symbolic ceremony.  I think this is such a lovely idea.  I will definitely confirm with the wedding planner once initial contact is made.

THANK YOU!!!  :)

We are still getting legally married in Mexico; but after hearing so many reviews from online fourms, from previous brides, that they regret getting married so late in the week, I am second guessing the legal part in Mexico.

We are told we have to be there for four business days, before we can legally wed.

We arrive on Saturday, so the earliest we can get married, is THURSDAY.

That means I won't really enjoy my time before then - watching what I eat, and drink in fear of bloating or gaining weight (MY DRESS)!!! haha

Soooo who knows what way we will go.  Our wedding isn't until October 22 2015
