How To Address Invitations To Include "and Guest"

Recommended Posts

Hi Everyone,

I am in the process of mailing our invitations out right now but am having a dilemma with addressing the invitations. We are allowing our few single friends to invite a guest with them to keep costs down, but I'm not sure how to address the envelopes. Do I simply put "Jane Do and Guest" on the envelope, or should I include a little note inside the invitation? I just don't want it to feel too impersonal when they receive it, but I want them to know that they can invite a date or friend or whatever to go with them.

We aren't doing RSVP cards or anything (we are using being booking as our RSVP), so that isn't an option unless I make a few RSVP cards for our single friends but I really don't want to do that at this point.

How did everyone else deal with this?

Thanks!

Jane Do and Guest is what I did :) I had a wedding website for them to RSVP!

I also mentioned on the website I would try to pair singles to help with cost.

I am trying to avoid mailed invitations (we have done evites so far) but it is normal to use "and guest" if they don't have an established significant other. We are having everyone RSVP on our website. On there I could put the invited guest's name and indicate that they are allowed a "plus one" and they can enter their guest's name when they RSVP.

I'll chime in and agree. I would just mark it as "and guest" unless you know who they are bringing with them, in which case then you would address it as "Jane Doe and John Smith".

Either way once they book you'll find out who is who.
