Dress Alterationa Dilemna

Recommended Posts

Hey ladies!

So as you know I am 34 days away now from leaving for our wedding. The place where I bought my dress stretched my alterations out as long as they could as I have lost a bunch of the weight I gained last year and have been steadily losing it. I have gone from a size 13 to now a size 7/8 and I figure I should be down to my regular 6 in 4.5 weeks.

Now when I am going for my alterations, do I have them take it in an extra inch? I am so lost at what to do. I have transformed my body with doing boot camp but I still have 4.5 inches to lose off my stomach and 3.5 off my hips/butt. I have been eating super clean and working out which has helped expedite things but I don't know if I should leave it or tell them I am still losing... Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

And just to give you an idea of how far I have come...

First one was March 31st, second one Aug 29th and last one this morning... So confused on what to do!

First off, picture 1, 2 or 3, you look awesome!   But you have kicked some a$$, good work lady!

Secondly, I would personally have it altered for how you fit today for two reasons.  1. what happens if you can't make that size and then your dress is too small? not saying you won't get there, but 'what if?'    2. I don't know about you, but I swell A LOT in the tropics so I am already a little worried about this for myself.  Maybe allow yourself some wiggle room there.

BUT... if you have a corset back doesn't that allow you to change sizes easier?  Would that just solve it?

Probably not the opinion you wanted but you asked :P

I agree completely with@@calgarybride2015

With the heat in the south it will affect you. And what if...... I would do your dress now since they need time to do it and you could always tighten the dress. Don't force yourself into a schedule you might not be able to keep.

I who'd love to know who your dress designer is. It's absolutely stunning!!!

Thanks ladies. Good plan. It has to be taken in anyways on the top quite a bit since of course, the girls are always the first to go haha. I might get them to take it in half an inch in the hips but that’s about it. You’re right with it being able to be tightened, I’m just worried it will be too loose as I am bringing it down from a size 12 to a size 8… but I guess they know their work and if they really need to make a small adjustment, it will only be in the hips area 

It’s a Sophia tolli Jillian  Totally not what I thought I was going to get but I love it. 

I agree. I definitely swell up when I go down to the tropics so that's something to consider. The corset back always gives you that peace of mind that it has some wiggle room but I think the seamstress will be the best one to judge whether you should alter it further.

by the way, great job on the weight loss! You will look amazing for your big day, not like you didn't look amazing before, but still :)
