I was thinking about making a "travelling safety sheet" for everyone who books. I already have some safety tips on the website. I'm thinking of giving the suggestion to hang the do not disturb sign on their door during the wedding so no one will be in their cleaning at that time. But do you think that would just draw more attention to the room?

It shouldn't be hard for people to take everything valuable to the wedding. They will have on their jewelry already & will probably want their cameras. So maybe I'll just recommend not leaving valuables in the room during the wedding. Ladies can eaasily carry a purse.

I'm thinking of making travel packet for everyone who books & I can just include this info then.

I just keep thinking about this and it makes me so sad that the staff of these resorts are getting away with this crap!!! We were also treated very badly when we made the complaint. All the security guys came to our room when we made the call stating our code would not work for our safe....well hello...it was because the security person that opened it, reset HIS code in there in order to close it. They were all looking at me while I wrote a report (while crying on my wedding night) and I could just tell they were guilty...F'ers!!!! Argh!!!! Ours was only $1500...very small compared to these poor people who got $100,000 taken from them. But still, it completely ruined our wedding night and we will have to remember that for the rest of our life. Something has to give.

It was our safe that was broken into, so I would maybe recommend hiding their cash and valuables in dirty clothes cramed in the corner of your suitcase, tooth brush holders...things like that, that no one would think to look.

That is a really great idea. If someone marketed small camera's that looked like something people would travel with, and they could set it up in their room. That would surprise the crap out of the hotel staff when you say, look, I have proof. I think you are on to something there.

I am so sorry to hear this happened to you. Thank you for sharing the information with us to help us prevent something similar happening to our guests.

I was planning to suggest people not use the safe. Someone earlier suggested hollowing out a section of a book. We will also put small locks on all our luggage & suggest our guests do the same.

How do the staff know which rooms all the wedding guests are staying in? Did they specifically target the wedding guests during the ceremony?

Dang - why didn't I pay attention in science & math....I could have invented it myself! LOL

They do have tiny cameras that can go in anything nowadays. You could put one in a book on the table, sunscreen, they'll do anything you like. Not sure how economical it would be but it would totally work.

And I wouldn't even show the hotel the tape myself, they may come back and steal that too. I would catch a cab right to the embassy and get them to mediate.

I had to tell the WC all the room numbers that were our wedding guests. The hotel had to make sure that I had enough people to get the wedding package for free. So, I am sure they flag that in their computer system. We had no problems though, but I can totally see that information being really really easy to access.

When everyone books their trip, they are all booked under say, "The Smith Wedding". All they have to do is figure out when "The Smith Wedding" starts and they can see who all is attending. They only broke into ours that night, but we told EVERYONE we came in contact with afterwards and we happen to run into another couple that got married a few days later and some items were taken out of their room during their wedding as well. Not cash and not things in the safe, just items in their room.

I think a lock on your suitcase is a smart idea. A hollowed out book is a good idea too.
