Get a cheap book, cut a square out of the center, and hide your jewelry in there if you must take it off. Thieves ignore the bad bed-time reading!Chlorine is bad for all jewelry but the small exposure of a pool for a week won't do major damage. The biggest concern is chlorine weakens gold which can then damage your prongs causing the stone to fall out. Again, this is usually prolonged exposure.

i think that when there is an opportunity for thieves and criminals they will take it so if you know that people are going to bring lots of cash and jewelry on vacation and be out of their room most of the day then it seems like a pretty easy job to me. this one job was obviously an inside job but this could happen anywhere.

we had a problem at the Four Seasons in San Francisco where about 30 rooms were robbed in one day.

That makes perfect sense, I guess I just don't think like a theif. lol It just makes me sad that people would do this on someone's wedding day.

Just over a year ago now there was a Canadian couple getting married at Barcelo Maya Beach Resort, and the brides parents were murdered before the wedding day, how crazy is that. I guess you just never know, anything can happen.

Jules how sad is that! I hadn't heard of that, just awful :o(

Most of us go to tourist areas for our weddings. I think that people who live and work there see tourists as well off because we can afford to travel when travel is a luxury for many people. It doesn't always happen but it doesn't hurt to do anything in your power to prevent theft.

I have to say that some couples are pretty obvious about where their guests are staying so even the people who just walk by their rooms know their is a wedding party staying there. I encourage you all to not put signs on your hotel door announcing it is the the Bridal Suite or to hang anything on your door letting the average guest know that your guests are staying there. It is like advertising that people will be gone from their rooms for hours on end...why not just tack an invite up to the door.
