Hurricane Odile - Resort Damage Updates

Hi Ladies-

I am sure there are others out there that have been watching the news on the hurricane which just passed through Cabo. From what I have read, there were approximately 135 people treated for injuries and no reported deaths (thank God!). After all of this information was confirmed, I was determined to find some information on the resorts status after the hurricane hit. This link http://www.cabovillas.com/blog/?p=2547 seems to have the most up to date information on each of the resorts. Unfortunately, the resort where we booked our wedding just two weeks ago was hit very hard. The Sandos Finisterra stated that they are no longer accepting reservations from this day forward and that any future reservations will be offered to stay at a sister resort. If anyone else finds anything online that they wouldn't mind sharing with us Cabo brides I would greatly appreciate it. Such devastating news for such a beautiful place! I hope that the death toll does in fact stay at zero and that this community gets all of the aid and support that is needed.

Yesterday they cancelled my wedding and offered us either a later date or to relocate to a sister resort. I am in the process of trying to move to the cancun resort and hoping they can still give us the same dates. Sandos said they will be closed for at least a month but the was hit bad and will more time to recover. Both usairways and delta are waiving our transfer fees for flights. I am concerned I may lose my photography and linen deposit at this point but we will see. I'll keep you posted as I know more. I wouldn't worry yet

Oh ladies I'm so sorry :(

If you are trying to get sandos Eco resort in the Mayan or sandos playacar in the Mayan I think you'll be happy with both. I've stayed at the Eco resort and liked it :) also considered it for my wedding but was drawn elsewhere for a few reasons. Good luck ladies. Thinking about you!!!

We are going to Cabo in November as scheduled to stay in the Finisterra and meet with our vendors. I guess as we get closer to November 6th we will see at that point whether or not the resort will be able to accept our reservation. Our wedding date is on February 14th and I am hoping the Finisterra is repaired by then, but we will get a better idea in November.

@@DVon18 I am sorry? I was thinking about you earlier today. I am scared to lose my deposits for my linens and flowers as I have been paying stuff off little by little for the last 9 months and 80% of my wedding is paid for already.

I am scheduled to get married at Cabo del Sol on October 18th.  No word yet from the resort or my wedding planner- which is expected given the lack of electricity and running water.  I'm just glad to hear that everyone is ok and there were no fatalities. We have 70 guests coming all of which are worried.  Any updates would be helpful.  I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

@@DVon18 I looked at my post this morning and I was horrified as I put a question mark instead of a period after my "I am sorry." Ugh, I really need to reread my posts or stay off of the iPod when I am tired. For some reason I couldn't edit my post.

I know you were the next bride in the forum to get married at the Finisterra and I hope the have your wedding date available at one of the other resorts.

I heard there is another hurricane headed to Cabo this week and I sincerely hope that it doesn't touch down in Cabo again.

DVon18, what date was your wedding scheduled for?  Mine is October 25 at the Hilton and we haven't heard anything back from them yet, so we don't know what to do right now

+1 to that.  I have my wedding scheduled Oct 25th at the Hilton with 90 guests attending and I don't know what to tell anyone

I've also been checking http://www.itravel-cabo.com/ for general updates in the area.  My heart goes out to every one of you.  This is such a sad, devastating time for Cabo, one of my favorite places in the world, and I hope they are able to rebuild and restore it fast.  I also very much hope this Tropical Storm Polo doesn't hit, because I don't think the town is an a good position to bunker down again, with all of the debris all over the place.
