Save The Dates And Invitations?

Recommended Posts

@@kimmyd2 I emailed travel agents in July, one told me that the schedules hadn't been released yet, and the other one just never got back to me. I've emailed LaurieLee four times now and she hasn't responded since her initial email in July where she said she'd have rates for me by the following week, which is disappointing seeing as she came so highly recommended on here.

We booked our wedding before the flights even became available. (For and estimated price until they came out, we looked at the cost to travel in the same month we were getting married but in the previous year). We sent STD's before pricing info was even available just so guests would know, hey I have a year to start saving money.

@@cfinkenbine Because I'm planning for shoulder season, I don't know whether there will be big difference in price week to week, so I don't want to book anything before we have pricing info, and since I'm in Canada, the airlines sell everything as packages and I have received an email from Westjet saying they don't even give estimates before the flight schedules are released.

Hi there! I am getting married January 2016 - those flights aren't out yet, so I haven't confirmed a date or sent out any invites. However, at our engagement party I made an announcement that our wedding would be destination and around December/Jan 2015/2016. I am not planning on sending out save the dates (I find them to be a waste of money.. ) - instead I have just let my close friends/family know to start saving. Once we get our flight info then we will book ASAP and send out invitations then!

Good luck!

@@TaraMarie33 I wish I had taken your approach and not sent out Save the dates. We are getting married February 2016 and I had to send out save the dates because it had all the travel / booking information on it. Getting a group rate meant that my guests had 3 months to book in to guarentee a spot on the plane. I'm also having an at home reception following the trip and I hadn't booked the venue or anything yet so I couldn't sent out my actual invitations until I had that info too. It was so complicated. Oh well. In retrospect i'm happy I did it because I made some pretty cute save the dates ^_^
