Hi! I'm new to this site and can use any useful information.  My fiance and I are leaning towards having a destination wedding in Jamaica early 2016. We are thinking of doing one more vacation prior to booking our wedding.  We want to visit the top 3 hotels and spend 2 days on each resort so that we can see each location and better decide where to get married.  We are looking for an adult only resorts and will probably be having a rather large amount of people attending (i would say 40-50).  What are your suggests for the best months of the year for a destination wedding? Also has anyone gotten married in Jamaica that can offer any advise?

@Belinosh@angie0515 congratulations guys!! I'm getting married this December in Negril. There are so many beautiful resorts/ hotels to choose from..just look at all the recommendations on this forum, it'll be a huge help!!! We went with a smaller property on the 7 mile beach, called Seawind!! Good luck with planning, and let me know if I can be of any help :-).

Hi. Congrats and welcome to the site! Everyone is right - you will find a ton of helpful information here that will help you along on your planning journey!  I got married almost 3 years ago in Jamaica and we loved it, and we did our actualy legal wedding there as well, not a symbolic ceremony. We were married at Gran Bahia Principe Jamaica in Runaway Bay. It's a gorgeous resort and there is a huge forum here for it along with a whole lot of ladies that have been married there. It is one of the very few resorts that has a gazebo right on the beach so you get the best of both worlds in that you are on the beach without getting sand in your shoes!! It was great.

From spending time on the forum when I was planning, I will say that the ladies doing April weddings afterwards said it was very windy. Of course through the summer you get the very high humidity, and then there is also the high point of hurricane season, which tends to lean towards August and September. However, having said that the Jamaican people loved to tell us that Jamaica very rarely gets hit by hurricanes!! Still, it's something to consider. We were married in late October and the weather was fabulous. If people go away for winter vacations they generally will go from December to March so that's likely a nice time for weather, and I would guess you could throw November in there too. That gives you nearly 6 months to work with in terms of timing.

My guess would be if you're looking for an adults only resort then Couples or Sandals would be good options for you. I work with someone that is getting married in November at Couples in Negril. The beaches in Negril are supposed to be absolutely wonderful. I would highly recommend that you get in touch with a travel agent to discuss what you're looking for. Budget will obviously be a concern for you so a TA can help you with pricing and being in the range of where you want to be as well as give you advice on properties. The other thing you can do is go through the resort reviews here and see what past brides have said about their resorts and it will at least give you an idea of the opinions.

Good luck and happy planning!

Hi and welcome to the site. I will be getting married in Montego Bay Jamaica in June 2015. I have been to Jamaica 13 times so needless to say i love it there. I highly recommend MBJ. Its close to the airport so cuts down on traveling time once you get there. I have heard great things about Sandals and Riu. My wedding will be at the Holiday Inn Sunspree as we have children and they love it there. Good luck on your planning and if you need any help or direction just let me know.

Hi Angie- congratulations on your engagement!  I just got back from my stay at Secrets St James for being a top 50 booking agent.  I also had the pleasure of staying at Iberostar Grand Rose Hall which is another adults only resort.  January-April is non-hurricane season but also high season so rates are much more expensive.  October-December has great weather and good rates.  Feel free to PM me with any other questions!
