Ceremony/reception/after Party Times

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I was wondering what time people were doing ceremony, cocktail party, reception, and then after party( if any?) ?

I have 6 hours of reception time, so was thinking of doing the ceremony at 5 pm (about 30 mins), then maybe a cocktail hr for guests, then start reception/dinner at 7 pm until 1 am. worried that it might get late for the older people. Our resort doesn't have a club, and at this point probably no sense hopping into a cab into town (like 30 mins away) to go to a club, so I am not sure what we will do after...ideas?

what does everyone think?

So long as your venue allows receptions until 1am and whether you have a DJ etc I think it sounds great, our resort requires all outdoor venues to wrap at 11pm.... which is a bummer!

Our resort allows 6am but that'd get pricey.

I think it's a great idea. And if the old folk are tired they can leave but allows the fun folk to continue on.

What month you marrying in? On my phone and can't tell -- because if in our winter 5pm would be almost dark for a ceremony.

The end of March- they told me sun sets at 7:14 pm, so I was hoping to get pics during sunset. I am allowed to go as late as 2 am, but I figured starting dinner at 8 pm may be too late, and dont really feel like paying for an extra hour. I am just not sure what we are going to do if my friends want to stay out past 1 am. We have giant suites, I guess as long as everyone isnt too drunk we could hang out in a room (there are probably only like 20 friends coming max between us)

Where are you marrying? I've been told in the Mayan and I assume Cancun that you don't get sunset shots. It's light or

Dark no beautiful orange sky.

i was just going to budget like 1.5 hours since its not like we are traveling anywhere, we will be on the beach. I wanted to get some group shots, some extended family shots, some friends shots, and then immediate family, bridal party, and bride and groom. I figure all the shots will take like 30 mins, then like 30 mins for bridal party and fam  and like 30 mins for us.
