What Is A Ta Useful For?

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I see a lot of brides here have travel agents....what are they most useful for?

I already have a place and rooms for the guests (time share situation)

Can they help a lot with flights (no one has booked yet)? Other deals?

How much do they charge?

Do you think it is worth it for me to get one now?

I am using one because they were able to get a group rate for my guests. Which includes lower room rates, $100 resort credit for everyone, the 10th room booked gets an upgrade, and every 5 rooms the 6th room is free. The free room credit goes to me so I can use for my room or distribute the discount for all of my guests. (A lot of these promotions are resort specific this is what secrets was offering)

Also I figured since it is a lot of money I would prefer my guests to have the option to pay the trip in installments.

She also coordinates travel to and from the hotel. All of the bookings so I do not have a lot of guests coming to me they can ask her all of the questions in regards to travel. She can help with the passport process. Also flights as well.

I'm using Patty & Kristen from Wright Travel Agency! They are amazing & available at all times to answer any questions! My guests placed a $100 with her, and then they can make slow payments towards their stay! She also coordinated transportation to and from the hotel! They're located in CA, and I'm from NY, and so far everything is great!

I would certainly have considered many different things had my travel agent actually been good, and spent time explaining things to me. Unfortunately, I ended up with a bad one, but as a result, have also learned what separates an average agent and an amazon. Agent. If you find a really good one, you will likely save money. Not just on travel packages, but at the resort - there are definitely resorts that are more inclusive with their wedding packages than others, and won't charge insane amounts for extras. Those are things your agent should be helping you with - but a lot do not!

I am not sure I could have done it without a travel agent!

Reviewing contracts, reserving seats on the plane/rooms at the hotel, getting connectors and hotels for guests with layovers, collecting payment, etc.  For 45 people!  I don't have the patience nor the time for that.   I handled all at my resort myself and in the early stages she would just step in if I needed extra help. She checks in to make sure everything is handled there, but it's been really good.   Are we missing out on resort extras? not sure, but with all the airline extras we got, I am more than happy!

I feel we owe her big!  She wasn't a destination wedding specialist, but she is fantastic at what she does!
