Chinese Lanterns And/or Sparklers On Plane?

Recommended Posts

It's too bad about the lanterns. I know there are resorts in Jamaica that still allow them. We saw one over the weekend that someone had set off at the beach, and it looked so cool! I had never seen one actually set off before except in pictures. We watched it until it was completely out of site but it went really, really high up. I only hope it didn't land somewhere that it shouldn't have!!

I know most of Mexico has banned them due to enviro issues (and maybe fires?), but my WC had told me Nuevo still allows it as long as the wind is OK. I lit some at my lakehouse- it was awesome, they go so high and are so pretty- but not going to lie, thought they were going to hit the neighboring trees and also wondered about the environmental stuff since they probably fall in the lake

Also, I was wondering about the logistics of them? When I lit them it took probably at least 2 people to hold them, so I guess it can't be 1 per person? Also I feel like they might not all fill up at the same time and that we would need to have like 30 lighters on hand to do them at the same time?

I wanted to do custom matchbooks too but when I called United Airlines to see if we could put them in our checked baggage I was told it was not allowed.  Kind of a bummer because we are having a cigar station and will have sparklers.   ^_^

yes, we wanted them for our cigar station too!  I guess that saves me money, but I think my FI would loved it

Where are you getting your sparklers from?

@@tygrrlily I'm actually getting my sparklers through Discomovil I asked him if he had them or knew where in Cancun we could get them and he said he would order them for us from Mexico City and bring them the day of.  The resort quoted me about $140 for 45 sparkles through Discomovil it will be like $65 so much cheaper.

Oh thanks for the tip!  Wheh though - sparklers are way more expensive in Mexico!  I really wanted these for our dance, but I might forego it... Hrm

Anybody have any tips on how to get sparklers in the DR?

I think you may need to work with your WC locally and access them direct through resort. Not cheap... But may be the only option!
