When To Start Dress Shopping?

Had my appointment - found dresses for both DW and civil ceremony as well as my bridesmaids dresses :-) I didn't think I would have decided on a dress on my first visit! It actually shouldn't take long to arrive at all - they said end of September/beginning of October. Won't start alterations until March or April. I was advised by someone who use to work at Davids Bridal to always tell them that your wedding is a month before it actually is so that they don't cut it too close with alterations.

A year out is seems a long time. I will take hardly 4-5 months which is appropriate time for me.

In a way, I do think there should be a time frame on when to find a dress. In my case, I happened to stumble upon it this past weekend, and my wedding is 15 months out. I couldnt imagine myself leaving the store without the dress, so I purchased it. I realize my wedding is more than a year away but I think it was meant to be. 

I would say start looking when you feel comfortable. Like finding the right guy, it will happen when it happens.

@@MissJen3 Agreed! The more I envision myself in the dress I purchased, the more I love it and am glad I bought it ;-)
