Need A Backup Plan - Private Beach Wedding Resort?

I was hoping to book at the Bahia Principe Coba and have my ceremony at the Akumal Hammocks site (see photo), but with Akumal becoming an exclusive luxury resort there's a chance that I won't be able to use that site, so I'm looking for a backup plan. What attracted me to that site was that it was on the beach, so I could get married barefoot in the sand, but it was in front of a seawall of sorts so there wouldn't be anyone swimming or lounging in the background, just the waves. There was also an arch over the wedding location.  Does anyone know of a similar type of venue at another resort?

At the Grand Sirenis Riviera Maya/Mayan Beach they have two wedding locations....

 

1. the public beach

2. a private beach where you can get married on the sand as you pictured, with Mayan Ruins around it.  Then there is a palapa (hut) close by for your dinner/reception.

 

Some packages include this private area, but I choose a cheaper package and just upgraded to this area, as I didn't need the extra fluff of the pricier packages.

 

Coba and Grand Sirenis aren't that far from eachother either, and from my research (I also looked at the Bahia resorts) the Grand Sirenis was a bit cheaper in price point.

What is your budget and are you looking to have a sit down dinner or what not? Let me know then I can suggest some places.. my sister in law is a destination wedding photographer and has stayed at tons of the resorts down there, plus we are pretty seasoned in traveling their ourselves!

Pics are sent - sent 2 emails.  Some from resort themselves, and some of a friend who attended a wedding there.

 

One of the pics was the public beach, but all the rest were on the private beach.

What is your budget and are you looking to have a sit down dinner or what not? Let me know then I can suggest some places.. my sister in law is a destination wedding photographer and has stayed at tons of the resorts down there, plus we are pretty seasoned in traveling their ourselves!

 

I'd like to keep the prices per person below $1500 all in (we're coming from Canada, so I know it's hard to compare with US package prices). We'd like to have a beach ceremony, semi-private dinner in a restaurant is fine, and then some sort of DJ afterwards.

I know even the Coba was pricing high for us when we looked (1650 pp for November).

 

Grand Sirenis is a really nice resort from what I have heard, as well as the Grand Sunset Princess, my sister in law loved that one but some people shy away from it as there was an explosion there many years back.

 

You can take a look at the Riu tequila as well, or Barcelo tropical. Another lovely one is Sandos Carocoal but that might be priced a bit high for you.

 

We decided to get married off the resort as we didn't like the limitations and wanted to keep the costs down for guests but still wanted a personalized wedding - have you thought about that?

Thanks for the suggestions, we actually stayed at the Sandos Caracol last year and were less than impressed. It's a lovely resort, but our maid stopped bringing us clean towels and facecloths, and the Mexican restaurant was closed the entire time we were there, which they didn't even mention when we checked in, so we had to leave the resort to get Mexican food. 

 

I don't want to go off resort, I'm looking to keep this as simple as possible. I really liked the Coba one because it was a very straightforward choice of wedding location, choice of restaurant, choice of package.  Going off resort adds more complication than I'm prepared for.

Update - Just emailed them, will let you know when I get a response. I know how stressful this part can be so If I can help alleviate any stress, then I am happy
