Wedding Guests That Are Single. How Did You Work Things Out?

Recommended Posts

Hi all!

My wedding is scheduled for Feb 11, 2015. The resort is a couples/adult result so double occupancy rates apply, like with most resorts.

I have a few non coupled friends that I am trying to pair up to save costs, but I am worried that if one of the pair backs out, that the other person may not want to go because of cost. There are options of 2x double beds in some of the suites.

Did anyone have this situation and how did you deal with it? Did anyone have a single odd person out?

Much appreciated!

My singles were welcome to bring someone along as a guest- or if they want help finding a roomie I would offer to help pair them... But so far our singles want their own room and have booked that way. We ended up getting them a great rate of only an extra $200 for the single supplement

We have pretty much left it up to our guests! Some have talked and doubled up, others just got single rooms, and some have invited a friend with them. The cost was about $200 for a single as well...not too bad! I had a single room for my sisters wedding 6 years ago and loved it!! Only my mess around, room service breakfast for one on my patio in the mornings...it was great!

Our resort is a family friendly resort so I'm leaving it up to the guests to decide. I think most of the singles may be bringing a guest or there's enough of them that are friends that will room with each other.

Wow! I had no idea that that sort of arrangement could be made! I will have to ask the resort to see if they accommodate that kind of thing. If they do that would really save me some mental stress! Thanks everyone!

Every hotel allows only one adult in a room- you just need to ask your TA what the single occupancy rate is for your various room types reserved. Obviously rates are normally based on double occupancy so when they are only getting one person in the room it is more expensive, and conversely when there are 3-4 people in the room it works out to be less $/pp. We got pricing for single, double and quad occupancy.
