Congratulations @Khryniw14!! I got engaged at the end of March and just booked our wedding at Excellence Resort Riviera Cancun and can't wait till next year!  I definitely agree with everyone else and you should defiantly work with a TA.  I had pretty much already decided where I wanted my wedding before talking with our TA.  I have a slight advantage because I am an event/wedding planner.  Do your research and read reviews and you will pick the perfect place for you!

I am a newbie to this too.. just joined yesterday after reading all of the amazing information brides give to brides.

I got engaged about a month ago.. I am from Manitoba and we are really interested in doing a destination wedding. I knew that this is what I had wanted to do for a long time. I am having a hard time picking a resort and actually making a final decision on it.

I had my heart set on Curacao but the nicer resorts are too pricey and I don't like the idea of making all of my guests over night in Toronto since there are no direct flights.

I always said that I wasn't going to do Mexico but after looking at how amazing some of the resorts are and the price you get, I couldn't resist. I am set on the Azul Fives in Mexico - I just can't make the final decision yet.

We are looking at doing early 2016 so that my guests have a lot of time to save. I already have a travel agent who I love. My only concern is I don't feel as though I am getting the group rates. Is anyone else having that problem? Will I only get those rates after I have everyone's deposit in?

Not sure I understand your question... As a Canadian Bride, your TA will have gotten your group rate for you that would include flight, accommodation and transfers. You would have had to review the contract and then put down (in most Canadian cases) $150 for each you and your FI, which would then start your contract and allow your guests to book at that price for the following 90 day period. In addition to the contract price, you should be told any incentives (1 free for every "x" booked etc)

You should NEVER put down a deposit on a contract that you don't have pricing on!

Almost every tour operator also has a price drop guarantee that allows for a one time price reduction for your group so long as it occurs prior to your final payments due (usually 45-60 days out)

The pricing my TA got for my group travelling in February 2016 (high season) at my resort (Azul Sensatori) was impressive and my guests were happy with the price based on the quality of resort and the pricing they see out there for it on travel sites.

Sorry I should have been more clear. I did receive a quote from my TA but I have not accepted it yet. When I look online via Transat her pricing for a group of 60 was the exact same cost that I had found online. I just expected the quote to be cheaper or 60 plus people. She has not told me about incentives yet - I am assuming she will tell me once I accept the contract and such. I asked her if there were a high or low season and she told me that once we accepted the resort - then we would decide on the day and which would be cheaper. But I have a hard time a accepting it if I do not know all of the costs.
