Hi Everyone,

Just wondering if there are any Canadians out there who know the process for changing your name and legalizing your marriage once you recieve the Apostile Seal from Mexico?

There isn't anything to "legalize". Your marriage is legal, and the certificate you receive with the seal is your legal marriage certificate. The only thing you might have to do is if it's in spanish, you may need to take it somewhere, like an embassy, to have it translated and sealed. It's one of the reasons we got married in Jamaica.

Depending on what province you're in I would contact the Registrar where you do your name change and ask them if they require it to be translated. You're not the first and won't be the last Mexican bride so they must have a process in place to help out everyone that gets married out of the country. On the other hand, they may be asking too much of our government! Nothing is ever as simple as we think it should be!!

Good luck!
