Stupid question, but with having DW do you need to have a card box at the reception. I am the first of my friends to have a dw and not really sure. Do guests bring gifts or cards to the dw? If so any cute simple ideas for this

Thanks

Nicole

I was not going to.... Though I'm sure it's ok... I just don't want any implication of "hey I expect something from you" after shelling out so much money to attend the wedding. But people may bring a card to wish us congratulations... (No $ inside).,,,If people bring cards, I will have someone hold or gather them- or make an impromptu location to place them at our guest book area.

I feel the same as kmk2016 - it's also why I'm not advertising a registry, either.  They are already spending $1300-1500/person, so they definitely do not nee to give us a gift/card!  If they do, I'll have one of the mom's be in charge :)

Bonus - one less thing to pack/carry!!

I wouldn't.. If people choose to get you a card/gift, they aren't going to say "oh, there's no place to put it, let's not give it to them then", they will obviously easily find somewhere to put it, or some point to give it to you. Putting a card box out just looks a little assuming. I'm having an AHR and even debated putting one there! Although there will be 50+ guests that aren't attending my DW so I guess that's different. Save yourself the money and space on a fancy card holder!

I agree about not having a card box for your DW. I think the people that attend, if they are still giving a gift, will either make sure it gets to you before you leave, or they will take care of it once home.

As for the AHR, we had a card box. We were just the 2 of us for our wedding so there wasn't anyone at the AHR that attended the DW. From what I understand, everyone looked for the box as soon as they entered the room.

My fiance handmade beautiful card boxes for his 2 sisters for their traditional at home weddings. They just surprised us this weekend with a smaller, flat box that will pack easily and can hang on the wall when we arrive home. I was on the fence about a card box, but this was definitely an awesome gesture, and now I have one!

I agree that if people attending your DW are going to still give you something, they will do it at home.  It is one less thing everyone needs to worry about packing.

I am certain the handmade card boxes are beautiful.  What a nice touch for their special day.

I saw some cute ideas for card boxes on Pinterest but I am not going to bring one. People are spending enough on their travel, I don't want it to seem as if I'm expecting something. If people give us cards, we'll have to just improvise of a spot to put them, lol.
