Guests Not Booking Through Travel Agent

Recommended Posts

I have never even heard of Sunwing, is this a Canadian airline? Lots of Canada brides on here!

Yes it's a charter airline that only does package travel (hotel, air and transfers) for Canadians.

I am doing a cruise wedding, and for every 8 rooms booked under our group we get the cost of one persons fare back to us (around 1200). We decided to split that money by 8 and give it back to everyone as onboard credit instead of keeping it for ourselves. It motivates everyone to book through the group, and gives them back a little for traveling for us.

So funny everyone's experience. I've never had a problem with Sunwing and actually prefer them. I've had problems with all other airlines. I wish we could have used Sunwing for our wedding but air Canada was the cheapest. Like you a cheaper price was never found so all booked with us :)

Edit; to be honest I've never really had major problems with any airline. Just the basics that everyone has with every airline.

I'm so happy and relieved to hear that you have had OK experiences with Sunwing! I've had good and bad experiences with all the airlines I've flown on, so I suppose there will always be a bit of luck involved.

I have flown with Sunwing 6 times and never really had an issue other than a 20 min delay. We are using them for our wedding!

That's awesome to learn. Thanks!

It's nice to see that many people are having this issue with people not booking with the TA handling the wedding. I'm also dealing with this issue - most people on my side have used the TA (making my life a little easier) where as almost everyone on my FI's side is going to book on their own at a late time. I understand their reason for doing this but yes it is a little more of a hassle since other people will book at their own time.

People booked for my wedding with just the save the date (as intended). Then in the beginning of the year I will send out actual invites with rsvps so see who of those who are not booking with my TA will be attending. It just puts a bit of a delay on things since there are things I won't be able to decide on until we get closer to the wedding and I know how many are actually attending.

@@Lia33 I know what you mean! We are bugging all our invitees to let us know if they will be attending, so we can plan our event! Some people seem surprised that they need to rsvp.

I don't want to be rude and harass people, but if they want a chair to sit on and food they do need to let us know they will be showing up...

ugh, luckily with our agent if the prices drops we have a "one time price drop guarantee". So have been encouraging people to book with our TA.  We  have had a few people already comparing prices but luckily they have found that our price is actually the best.

It's so frustrating and I feel for those who have had people go rogue on them.  Obviously the perks of everyone booking through a TA are preferred.  good luck to anyone and if anyone comes up with a new nice way to say..."don't go rogue" let me know.  lol
