Now Larimar - 2015

Recommended Posts

Those who did the divine package with the 3 hour reception, was this long enough for everything? I am planning on doing the fire show and wondering what the timeline is for dinner, first dance, fire show, etc

@@sjw015 could just be me but we did the divine package with an additional hour and used every minute from 6:30-10:30

Off topic make sure they serve your cake- we did our cake cutting around 8ish and by time they served it it was already 10ish and majority of our guests had already gone to their rooms- such a waste being that we were charged for the additional slices.

@@DR2015 did you do the fire show or crazy hour? Are they pretty quick getting the dinner courses out right when the reception starts? Did you do first dance, father/daughter etc during dinner? I am sorry for all of the questions it's just getting closer and closer and just trying to get a feel of how things will go and if we need to extend the reception. We will only have 25-30 guests.

@@sjw015 we didn't do a fire show or crazy hour- we did buffet style which took wwwaaayyyy to long- we did do first dance and father/daughter mother/son dance along with speeches from the best man, maid of honor, bridesmaids, family members, it started to feel like a retirement party lol- we had 75 guest so you may have a lot more time in between than us!

Just getting back from our July 24th wedding at Now We had 76 guest. Yeomandry was our coordinator. She was great. Very helpful and professional(I'll touch on an example later).

I won't babble about every little thing. But if anyone has questions, feel free to ask.

We had a symbolic ceremony at the fountain. We used the violinist who was awesome. everything flowed well. My number one advice when using the fountain. Do not waste your money on decorations. The fountain is beautiful by itself. It felt very private with no strangers walking through.

Our guests enjoyed the cocktail hour which was in the garden. Sushi sounded like a great idea but a few people were hesitant being that it was close to 100 degrees out and they had been sitting out for a while. Other then that, everything was great.

We had the reception in the ballroom. Wasn't huge! But wasn't small either. Was just perfect for us and our guest. We got the video package for the first hour of the reception. So we tried to rush everything so that we could have it on video. First dances, speeches, cake cutting etc.

We paid for the resort Dj. But he was not available. So we were given another Dj. Who for some reason I can't remember his name. But I will get it later. He was awesome. He kept the party going. Took requests from our 5yr old son and everything. Our package included two extra speakers and a smoke machine. And of course being so involved in the festivities, we never noticed that there was no smoke machine, nor did we count the speakers for that matter. When we met with Yeomandry the following day, she notified us that we weren't given what we paid for and credited us back a few hundred bucks. That meant a lot to us, because there's was no way we would have noticed something that small. But she did.

Overall we provided cake toppers, table numbers, menus, candles for the centerpieces, decorations for the sweetheart table, sashes for chairs, and programs for the ceremony.

My main advice would be this. We spent so much time worrying about small stuff leading up to the wedding. But these people are professionals. They cover all the bases for you. Things you won't even notice, they will be on top of. So trust your coordinators.

My only complaint is about our photographer and the whole photo package for that matter. Our photographer was taking phone calls while we were posing on the beach. She would say "smile" and then say hold on while she answers a call. Which was made even worse by the temperature outside at the time. Very frustrating. Also in my opinion the photo packages are a joke. It's 2015 most people only want the pictures on a CD because you can take it home and print whatever you want for 30 bucks at cvs. But you have to buy a certain amount of prints to even get all the pictures on Cd.

But I highly recommend this resort for your destination wedding!!! Great staff they all go out of their way to help you.

Any questions. Just ask

@@RebeLight  Thank you so much for providing all these details. We are getting married on April 29, 2016 and I am getting anxious with which package to choose, DJ, photographer, hair and makeup. Ugh the list can go on. Trying to stay within a reasonable amount to pay for the wedding otherwise I could have just done a venue here at in New York. It's a bit overwhelming.

@@AshleyNYC323  Silly question but is Pastor York from DR?

@@fijiangel15 No problem! Congrats on your wedding! We chose the highest package because we had 40 guests so it made the most sense for us. It included hair and makeup and we added on the resort DJ, outside photographer and Pastor York. Pastor York is American but he lives in DR.  He's awesome...highly recommend him!  Our wedding ended up being 1/3 of the cost of the average wedding in Atlanta so it was definitely worth it for us!  Good luck with everything!

  • 2 weeks later...

I am having a mild panic attack thinking about all of the things I need to bring to Punta Cana for the wedding. Has anyone shipped a box of stuff beforehand? Are there any restrictions on what you can send? If I were to send anything before hand, it would be a lot of the welcome bag stuff (tote bags, travel sunscreen, travel aloe, ponchos, travel advil, travel purell, pepto, etc. I know I am not the first person to include such items in the welcome bag, so I know there is a way, just having a panic attack about what D.R. will allow in. Anyone have any experiences with this?

@@YearKerr09 Just getting back from our July 24th wedding at Now We had 76 guest.

@YearKer09,   Thanks so much for your review . Iv been looking particularly for reviews on LARGE parties. I'm looking to have 75 maybe 100 guest. I am getting really nervous because looking at the wedding packages and all those extra people realllllllly add up. I have not officially booked with NOW Larimar, as I am still trying to get a better estimate on prices.

If you wouldnt mind sending me a DM on around how much you ended up paying for your wedding at the resort that would be great! if not I understand.

Any other info would be great. I have literately been reading all the reviews on this page alllll day!

THANKS
