Unplugged Weddings

Recommended Posts

Ladies my girlfriend forwarded this super interesting article regarding "Unplugged Weddings" basically the do's and don'ts regarding your guests taking pictures, ruining moments and shots or altering lighting with aggressive flashes.

Link: http://m.huffpost.com/us/entry/3331528

I'm to sure if it will be a direct link as I'm posting from my phone, if not copy & paste to address bar (my apologies)

After reading this article I will def be announcing that we will be having an "unplugged wedding"

This is the announcement I saw in the article;

"Welcome, friends and family! Good evening, everyone. Please be seated. Dan and Jennifer invite you to be truly present at this special time. Please, turn off your cell phones and put down your cameras. The photographer will capture how this moment looks -- I encourage you all to capture how it feels with your hearts, without the distraction of technology"

I am totally in love with this idea. It helps me "control" what pictures are taken and I hate hate haaaate my pics being taken without knowing and then posted online. Huge pet peeve!

Anyone else thinking of having an unplugged wedding ??

I really really want to do this as well. I don't mind when people take pictures with actual cameras from their seat, but I really hate seeing iPads and people who get up and move to get that 'perfect' shot. Not sure if I can just ask people to stay seated and only take pics with cameras though so I'm not sure what to do!

The more I think about this idea the more and more I like it.

I just really hope people will be respectful and follow instructions .... I already feel my brother giving me a hard time..

But id like all the pictures of my ceremony to be of my guests looking at my fiancé and I taking our vows and not fumbling and getting distracted by their camera phones ....

totally love this idea!! thanks :) I kind of wanted people not taking pics for that exact reason posting before I see them..I hate pics of myself as it is...also I'm paying good money for our photographer I woukdnt want my guests getting in his way of the good shots. ..and now I know how I can kindly ask them to not take pics....PLUS I love the point that they should just sit relax and enjoy not worry about capturing it on film..

suppose I better run this by mom and my BP and see what they think lol.. I also don't want everyone pissed at me...I went to a wedding where they asked this and I was kind of offended and I didn't get any pics but now I see why they asked no pics during ceremony

This is a great idea... there are only very few people I would trust posting a picture of me that I actually liked.. this is a good way to avoid pictures the bride does not approve.

I just asked this not knowing what an 'unplugged wedding' is. while the more I think about it, I agree about people so focused on pictures and not the wedding, I also don't mind them getting their own pics. My huge thing is I want to be the FIRST to post pics on social media sites. Considering having the MC announce this but have saw others on here post it in their pre travel letters.
