Ordering Gifts From Mexico To Be Shipped To Resort? Bad Idea?

Thanks to a post that we found on this site,

 

there is a local shop in Puerto Vallarta that makes "rain stick shakers"- I saw them and thought they would be the coolest gifts to give to our guests..  WWW.Maracasartanddesign.com

 

We asked for a quote, and they said it would only be $8 for each of them - SCORE!

 

However, they would need to be made in Mexico, and shipped to the resort from the shop where they would be made.

 

Is anyone else doing something like this? Has anyone had any experiences when shipping purchases through Mexico? I feel like I've heard nothing but horror stories...
