Kleinfield @ The Bay Experience - And My Dress!

Recommended Posts

Hello ladies!

I've posted pics of my dress on the model, but I finally got around to taking some pics of myself in it. I basically need reassurance that this is still the RIGHT dress for me, because I already have it! :) My dress is Monique Lhuillier's Sahara. When I first tried it on, I couldn't get it out of my head for days and nothing else I tried on compared. I ended up buying the sample, and luckily it's in almost perfect condition! So the dress is physically in my closet right now. It's very flowy and lightweight, made of Chantilly lace, and will be perfect for Mexico. It's a bit too tight for me right now so I'll have to lose a bit of weight (which I'm fine with - I'm actually a bit more than my usual weight right now), and get it altered.

Here is my dress on me and the model:

I had booked this Kleinfield at the Bay appointment months ago when I first heard they were opening. I decided to keep my appointment because it's Kleinfield's and I was dying to see it! The store is gorgeous, ladies! For any of you Toronto ladies that are looking for a dress still, the Kleinfield store really is beautiful and spacious. The dresses are all still very new and in good condition (it's only been open for 2 weeks). My bridal consultant was a sweetheart and we had a blast trying on dresses. There was zero pressure, she made me feel comfortable with my lower budget, and I felt completely fine with her even though I was by myself. They had a really good range of dresses - both style and price.

I was actually really good at not choosing dresses that were way out of my price range (most of them! haha) and I'm very relieved and happy to say that I still love my dress more than the other dresses I tried on today. HOWEVER, there is one other dress that I also love and feel beautiful in. It's also a Monique Lhuillier but her lower priced Bliss line. It's very similar in shape to the one I have, but the fabric is a silk organza. It's also this beautiful light blush colour

Here are the 2 dresses side by side. The one I bought already on the left, and the one I'm kind of second guessing about on the right. This one is still double what I paid for the other one (but less than the original cost would have been) AND I already have my original dress.... so yes, I think I just need reassurance :D.

Thank you!

Your dress is gorgeous! It suits you perfectly! Don't drive yourself crazy with the other one!

But I'm really happy to hear the Kleinfeld experience was worth it! Do they really have stuff in the $1500 price range? That's a great price level for here compared to the US. For that range I would go and look and see what they have. Maybe later in the year once we have our news I'll go and see if they have something I like. I'm really hooked on the David Tutera for Mon Cheri and the Mor Lee lines - did you see any of those at all?? And I am absolutely wearing something with colour. I've already made my mind up about that! lol

Thanks for sharing on the field trip and being the guinea pig for the rest of us!! lol  job well done!!

@@acw271011 - They did have some - I don't remember seeing those brands specifically, but I was kind of pinpointing the style/shape I like. I did read that their range starts at around 1500. I think it's worth a look and just to enjoy the experience. The store is really gorgeous

I'm not sure if you've done a lot of dress shopping yet, but I had a good experience at that price range with Beckers, Ritche and Felicha Bridal. I said under 2k at those stores and there was a huge selection of dresses!

I think I will check it out. But it won't be until later in the year until after the next surgery. I'm not going to get too far ahead of myself until I know news is good. It's fine to be looking at photographers and resorts and stuff. All the things that really do need to be booked way in advance but dresses I'm going to wait until I know if we can do what we want next year, or if things don't go well and we have to wait until 2016.

Ritchie I know about but where are the other two stores? Did you check out Sophie's? They're a bit further out in Etobicoke on Dundas.

@@acw271011 - Yeah, that makes sense to wait then. I only had 9 months before our wedding, so I went dress shopping immediately. Beckers is on the Danforth. I made a list of the brands I was interested in, and wrote down Watters, Provonias, Maggie Sottero, Paloma Blanca, Mikaella, Enzoani. Felicha is at College/Bathurst. I wrote down Watters, Martina Liana, Alyne by Rivini.

I didn't go to Sophies but I did also check out Sash and Bustle (recommended if you like simpler styles. They didn't have a lot in the shape I like, but if you like more sheath/a-line, they had a ton that were affordable. AND you could take pic! s) and this privately owned one called Camellia uptown because she has a ton of Enzoani which I wanted to try and was willing to sell her samples.

I also checked out Dina Alonzi (upscale!) during their sample sale, and that's where I found my dress

I like your first choice best....I am refraining from even looking since we ordered mine already and I love it. I am not an easy person to shop so since I love it I will take it and move on to the next planning step lol

@@Nybride525 - Phew, that's my actual dress! :)

Haha yeah, i'm done looking. I think going that one last time was actually helpful though, because now I see that I do love it and I actually loved it more than anything else I tried on that time in comparison. And I had to get it out of my system!

Lol yea I understand that. I am too scared I will fall inl love with something out of my reach so I cut myself off. The fact I loved something under 1,000 with alterations total bonus!

@@shelikespink - I think most of the dresses at Kleinfield were more than 1k. Definitely dangerous to go if it's out of budget, but I have to admit the experience was really fun and different compared to the other bridal salons in Toronto.

Have you started looking yet? I also went to: Felicha, Beckers, Sash and Bustle, Camille Bridal Store, Dina Alonzi, David's Bridal and Ritche. Minus Dina Alonzi, I think all the others had some dresses in that price range! And many around the $1500 mark. Also, see if they have trunk shows or sales - sometimes when I went, they were offering an extra 10% off or had samples for sale!
