Kleinfield @ The Bay Experience - And My Dress!

Recommended Posts

Hello ladies!

I've posted pics of my dress on the model, but I finally got around to taking some pics of myself in it. I basically need reassurance that this is still the RIGHT dress for me, because I already have it! :) My dress is Monique Lhuillier's Sahara. When I first tried it on, I couldn't get it out of my head for days and nothing else I tried on compared. I ended up buying the sample, and luckily it's in almost perfect condition! So the dress is physically in my closet right now. It's very flowy and lightweight, made of Chantilly lace, and will be perfect for Mexico. It's a bit too tight for me right now so I'll have to lose a bit of weight (which I'm fine with - I'm actually a bit more than my usual weight right now), and get it altered.

Here is my dress on me and the model:

I had booked this Kleinfield at the Bay appointment months ago when I first heard they were opening. I decided to keep my appointment because it's Kleinfield's and I was dying to see it! The store is gorgeous, ladies! For any of you Toronto ladies that are looking for a dress still, the Kleinfield store really is beautiful and spacious. The dresses are all still very new and in good condition (it's only been open for 2 weeks). My bridal consultant was a sweetheart and we had a blast trying on dresses. There was zero pressure, she made me feel comfortable with my lower budget, and I felt completely fine with her even though I was by myself. They had a really good range of dresses - both style and price.

I was actually really good at not choosing dresses that were way out of my price range (most of them! haha) and I'm very relieved and happy to say that I still love my dress more than the other dresses I tried on today. HOWEVER, there is one other dress that I also love and feel beautiful in. It's also a Monique Lhuillier but her lower priced Bliss line. It's very similar in shape to the one I have, but the fabric is a silk organza. It's also this beautiful light blush colour

Here are the 2 dresses side by side. The one I bought already on the left, and the one I'm kind of second guessing about on the right. This one is still double what I paid for the other one (but less than the original cost would have been) AND I already have my original dress.... so yes, I think I just need reassurance :D.

Thank you!

Your dress is stunning on! Wooohoo!!!! You look fantastic! What kind of price range did you give your consultant at the Bay if you don't mind me asking.... How many dresses did she pull for you at that price range? Your silhouette is similar to what I'm going for.., so it might be fun to go try on dresses here as I'm in GTA every couple months for work.

@@kmk2016 - It was a lot of fun! Very classy experience overall. Definitely go if you get the chance! I told my consultant under 3k and most of the dresses I tried on seemed to range from about $1500 to $4500. I didn't have any problems pulling out some dresses to try on in that range. They carry some more affordable brands like Maggie Sottero and Paloma Blanca as well. I tried on a few that were more expensive as well (some Lazaros and Monique Lhuillier Bliss), but I think we probably stayed in the more affordable section for sure. It was a bit different from the TV show because I was actually allowed to walk around and "shop" myself. I just showed her the dresses I wanted to try on and she'd take them down for me. They were also all uncovered, and I was able to touch them. The ones that were higher than my cap were ones I actually wanted to try on. My consultant was really great

My consultant said the most expensive dress they have is $32000 (!) - it's a Pnina Tournai and if you look at my first Kleinfield store pic, you can see it on a mannequin in the background. It was kind of a huge poufy rosette skirted monstrosity haha

@@tygrrlily that's awesome! So when you were walking around, you could see the designer and name of the dress??? I am tempted to go and try on some expensive dresses, as I'm considering (strongly) to have something recreated overseas- but would love to know the designer and style so I can research online for photos etc afterward... And I know that usually you aren't allowed to take pics of the dresses.

I will totally make an appointment there at an upcoming trip! Excited!!!

Yup you can look at the tags and see the style names and prices! I'm a big try it on then google it person as well! Actually all of the bridal stores I went to here in Toronto were like that. Most didn't allow me to take pics, but they didn't hide any of the style info or price. They wrote down the price and name on a little card for me at all the stores of any dresses I liked.

I totally snuck the pics haha - I prob shouldn't have but you really need to see it in a pic to see how it'll photograph. It's not hard to if you're quick and rmbr to turn your phone to silent. I snapped the pics of me in the dress when she went out to get me a belt

If you're into high end, check out White and Dina Alonzi when you're in Toronto too!

I also booked my appointment months ago!

I went to Kleinfelds at the bay on May 3rd! It was so wonderful!

There were a couple people from the show and when I said Yes! some many people came to see the dress and they brought in champagne!

It was an incredible experience! So happy I found 'the one' <3

Congrats!

Both gowns are stunning! You have great taste! I'm partial to your original Monique, though. Wear it proudly and don't second guess yourself--it's completely perfect for your beachy wedding!
