New And Overwhelmed!

Hi everyone!

 

I'm new to the forum and I've been reading all your reviews and advice. It really has been a Godsend finding this forum!

 

I'm newly engaged (2 weeks ago) and have decided that i don't want to wait to be married....I've set a date for a destination wedding in Mayan Riviera for the last week of August 2014. Yes, i know that it's only 4 months away!

 

I think I've narrowed 2 hotels down. It's either Azul Fives or Azul Beach. I can't decide between the 2 of them. I know i have to make a decision soon so my guests can start booking time off. (approx 60 ppl)

 

Also, i know that emails don't get answered right away, but I've emailed Karisma about my possible wedding dates and still have not heard from them. I know i have to be patient, but i'm running out of time!

 

Any advice or input would be greatly appreciated!

Welcome and Congrats on your engagement. Don't feel overwhelmed this site will guide you along the way. You've done the hard part, picked a location:) Now find a forum for that location so you can get visuals. Also, using a travel agent will be a great help as well. Try the Wright Agency. They have also been reviewed on this site. Hope that helps a little. Happy Planning

Congrats! Speak to a TA immediately if you haven't done so already. They can often help coordinate w/ the hotels too

 

Have you spoken to your family/friends yet? Are they okay with August 2014? I completely understand - I didn't want to wait either. So we're aiming for December 2014

 

Also, if you haven't started dress shopping yet you should do so immediately. Your time frame might be too short for some dresses and you might have to buy off the rack/sample or get a dress rushed

Yep, everyone is ok with the date. I was pretty surprised that i got such a huge response!

 

I have a couple of appts booked for this saturday.  I am definitely worried about the time frame. Hopefully I find something that works!!!

I've found tripadvisor forums to be incredibly helpful in terms of discussing the resorts themselves

Good luck w/ the appointments! And if you're open to buying a sample or a used one online, you have a bit more flexibility w/ time. I ended up getting a sample and I already have it in my closet

Depending on what you find out, there is a website called www.preownedweddingdresses.com  They have new and samples too so if you run into problems with getting what you want on time, it's a possible alternative. And everything is much cheaper than in a salon so definitely worth a look! They have some beautiful gowns!

Thanks everyone! Yes the panic is starting to set in. I've been waiting for someone to contact me from Karisma. Still nothing. 

 

Looks like I'm going to have to switch hotels. Nothing is booked yet. The Paradisus has been been great, and by great, I mean responding to my emails!
