I guess it really depends on the sandals, some are totally fine and it also depends on the shorts, there are some really nice shorts as well. Most of our friends dress nicely so I don't think we should be worried. I've just seen some pictures of weddings that it honestly looks like some people were lounging on the beach all day and then they went and sat down for the wedding hahah.

I agree, I think of our friends and family and think we will be fine.  But then again I have seen these pictures you refer too!

I will make sure in my pre-travel brochure that I am clear that no 'swim/lounge' attire is appropriate.

Most people are telling me about the pretty dresses they are buying, so fingers crossed!

We listed a dress code, but I think it consisted of 'a nice shirt and shorts or a summer dress is more than perfect'  haha!!  I asked for what you don't want, eek!  Are you really against people wearing sandals? You can get some nice ones. I can't really say 'no sandals' when the entire wedding party will be in them!

I told fiance I would be pissed if someone showed up in swim shorts, but he thinks we are fairly safe.

you're right, maybe I should change it and be more specific, not just semi-formal so people don't think they have to wear long pants and things like that but just put that nice shorts/pants and a shirt and a summer dress is fine.

I should give my friends more credit, right? I don't know,I always love to dress up so I take any chance I get, even if it's a wedding on the beach lol but sometimes I don't know if everyone thinks like me.

Maybe I give too much credit and I will be eating my words!!!   I love to dress up too, but if I was to attend a DW I would wear dress shorts and a dress top with fancy sandals.   I think I will list no swim/lounge wear just to be safe.

Oh my gosh I would die if one of my guests showed up in swim trunks! LOL I could actually see some of my uncles doing that....with a beer in their hand. I will have to make the attire wording very clear.

hahah!  We have a bunch of drinkers, so the beer in their hand I won't put past them. Thankfully, we are about a 15 min walk to the main resort so if they only bring one they will have it done before I show up!

@@calgarybride2015 so funny! There is a bar on the patio just above where our ceremony will be. I will tell the wedding coordinator or someone to ask everyone to finish their drinks before they sit down for the ceremony. I don't mind the drinking, obviously I will be joining in, but don't want beer cans in the ceremony pictures. Now the reception pictures that's a whole other story!

I think the reason why I started getting worried was because I went to give out one of my invitations and my friend asked me what she should wear. So I told her just a nice dress is fine or something like that. That's when her mom chimed in and she said, "oh, you could just wear a cotton dress, like the one you're wearing now". There was nothing wrong with her dress, but it was more like a bikini cover up than anything else haha. I didn't know how to tell her "i would prefer something fancier?" hahaha. It was awkward to say the least, aside from the fact that her mom tried to invite herself to the wedding as well lol (even though I've only seen her twice). Thankfully my friend said she would probably wear a red dress she has, which is really nice lol.

Very true!  I don't think I have anything to worry about here.  The chances of someone bringing a drink with them is slim.

But like you said, after the ceremony it will be mayhem!  This I don't doubt.  Sometimes we joke and hope the resort realizes just how much booze my family can consume.

My family doesn't drink much but with my friends the resort will actually be losing money hahaha

@@calgarybride2015 I seriously thought I was the only one worried about this! This is honestly one of the reasons we chose an all-inclusive! The wedding will pay for itself in alcohol consumption! The wedding coordinator let me know our reception can go until 11 but don't worry the party can continue at one of the bars until 2 or 3 am. My fiance and I laughed! This lady has no idea what she is getting in to. No one is rowdy but definitely a loud laughing bunch.

I agree!!   I should say friends and family - it's probably more friends but have a few drinkers in the family (my sister!! it somewhat worries me, but nothing I can do)...  Noone is rowdy though, just loud. Should be wild and make for some awesome memories.

I agree, the resort is losing money this week!
