Main reason for me:

 

To keep it simple and reduce the number of guests. If I had to have it home, it probably would have been 100-200 people. This way it keeps it small.

Yeah, I think we have the wedding up here it will be about 100 people and it is looking like the typica amount for meals is about 100/person which means 10k just on food alone.

My fiance and I just visited three venues today (a castle and two vineyards)... they didn't go so well... a DW is looking more appealing by the day!

Have you considered having a reception at home afterwards. That is what we are going to do just because DW can be a huge commitment for guests, between taking time off work, finding babysitters, putting aside money, etc.

Not really because we are already having a cultural ceremony in June that many people will be invited to

Destination wedding girl. You wedding will last a week, not just the one day

lol, I think we're doing just two more venue sites and going to make a decision!

 

my fiance talked to his friend (who we thought wouldn't be into the destination wedding idea) and he was actually open to it! i think that made my fiance more excited about it

We chose DW because

1. we always travel anyway. We picked one of our favorite spots so everyone else can travel with us. I guess that would be family/friends vacation

2. cost is cheaper than home wedding. But not amazingly cheaper like I initially thought.

3. Planning is easier for myself (but it really hasn't been- I've become extremely anal about minute things that are thousands of miles away & I have no control over.)

Hey ladies! My fiancé and I were talking last night and he said he wanted to do the destination wedding!!!! Now we don't have to do the venue visits. I am so pumped!
