Quick Question From Those Who Did Boarding Pass Invites/stds

Recommended Posts

what weight of paper did you use for the actual tickets? I had originally thought I would use 80lb text weight for the ticket portion, and 92 lb cover weight for the holders, but now that my sample papers have come in I don't know if that offers enough weight to the actual tickets. They will be more realistic in the lighter weight.. but will they come across as cheap looking? (using Curious Metalics- Ice Gold)

What weight did everyone else use? I'm likely over thinking things... but I want them to look perfect!

I love people that can DIY, cuz I certainly can't! lol

My first question would be are you printing them yourself? If so, can your printer handle a heavy weight paper? A lot of home printers can't take heavy weighted paper. If you have somewhere to print them, then second thing would probably be go for a heavier weight paper to give your project stability. I looked at 100 lb which is quite a bit thicker, perhaps too think. I'm wondering if your tickets should be in your 92 lb weight, again for the stability. That would be my guess.

Are you by any chance using Paper Garden paper? I love the curious metallics! I think what I used was something like snow ice - sort of a pearlized off white.

Sorry that wasn't more help.

I think I will run a test with both weights and decide once I see them. the 80lb will make it more realistic, but the 92lb will be a lot more substantial. I have a sample of the 105lb and it is WAY to heavy... I don't like it at all.

My mom has a professional printer, and I am visiting her next weekend- we will be using her printer (She self published a book last year and used this printer so she is confident it will print nicely... but we are going to test it with both 80lb and 92lb paper. Yes, I love paper garden but found the prices much better at papercircle.ca. They have the paper I am wanting at both... (Curious Metalics- Ice Gold) so I am ordering from them. For the bording pass jackets I am using a Matt cardstock from Michaels that was a heavier weight and it fed fine through my printer here at home. But I want the print quality higher for the actual boarding passes- so they are being done by mom!

I used what I think would be 80lb? I just used sparkly paper and it worked perfectly. I even used the lighter weight paper for the ticket holders. It was so much easier to print on and it was cheaper!

Without looking cheap!
